Good choice for fire pits the lack a cooking grate

This grill works very well for cooking over fire pits that are imbedded in the ground with a grate that swings over the fire pit. We place this grill directly in the fire pit which provides more clarence over the grate allowing us to control the fire better. The grill is about 7 pounds so it's too heavy and big to take backpacking. We did use it on a canoeing trip that had only one short portage. There was no rust on ours. It's a very good choice for car camping or trips with no portages. You would not bring this to the BWCA.
