Bought this item for layering on chillier hikes. I enjoy the larger waist size and baginess - I can comfortably wear yoga pants under these on chillier days. They are water resistant but haven't had much exposure with it, I'm sure they can't take a beating or anything like that. The durability leaves a bit to be desired - I was worried walking through brush that they may tear, but maybe they're more durable than they feel. Only time will tell! Ultimately I adore them and they're really cute - kept me much warmer than I expected with a layer underneath.

Feels light and cool - but makes some noise!
When REI discontinued the Outdoor Afro trail pants, I was pretty bummed as those are my favorite trail and climbing pants for warm spring and summer days! I've since tried the REI co-op trail pants (too short), Patagonia outdoor everyday (too big in the backside), and this is the closest to what I've missed about Outdoor Afro. The nylon feels light and cool on my body. However - the pants are a bit squeaky! I would try these on and walk around a little bit before buying to see if the squeak is tolerable.
