Mammut delivered on the key features--warmth, quality, unique features, and quiet materials. The zippers are big and strong, but I still found one getting stuck more than others. I have broad shoulders and the large is a tight fit, but the arm holes help me feel less "trapped." I was also surprised at how heavy the bag is---coming up on 3 kilos. I still want to test it under more extreme conditions, but summer is coming, so more cold-camp tests will have to wait. Biggest cons for me are just the weight and tight fit around the shoulders. Otherwise, very high marks!
The quality is noticeable right out of the box. I like to wash any new fabrics, followed the instructions and it worked out great. Been using it in the North Idaho woods fairly often since I got it. Thankfully it has the arm slots to allow for temperature regulation, this sucker holds the heat! The insulation and fabric for the head is really nice. The magnetic closure took me a bit to figure out, but it works really cool. Not the most svelte in regard to packed size, but it is a 0 degree bag after all. Been very satisfied and would recommend to anyone.
I took this bag with me while I was summer mountain guiding in Canada and this bag was so nice. It was a little warm most of the time, but whenever everyone else was freezing I was nice and toasty. The top loading zipper and arm holes were amazing and I don't know why more bags don't have this. It was so convenient that I was able to manage my own while completing other tasks and all from the comfort of my bag. I really liked the DWR coating on it to because it could take a little bit of water and was fine, though it was not water proof and eventually the weather won. My only real issue with the bag is that it's pretty bulky and definitely on the heavier side when it comes to bags, but it was totally worth carrying this thing all summer whenever the weather took a turn.
I’m rather disappointed. I ordered the large and I am 5’10” 210lbs. I’m built like a man not a hippie. My shoulders do not fit in this bag. I literally can not zip it up. I’m sure it’s a warm bag and nice if you’re a wee man and fit. It is bulky but I’m okay with that as I elk hunt. It’s not too bulky that I can’t make it up mountain with. That’s the only reason it has 2 stars. Again if your an athlete not to be misunderstood with someone who’s trying to be the best at exercise, this will not work for you.
This bag is really nice! All of the features you would expect in a top-end bag. The arm openings make it versatile if you need to manipulate thing inside your tent but want to stay toasty. Independent upper and lower drawstrings for the hood, inside and outside zipper pulls, very nice lining in the hood area, that is more like flannel than ripstop nylon. The centerline zipper is handy and well-baffled to prevent heat loss and drafts. The compression stuff sack is a drybag style closure as opposed to a standard drawstring, so it should offer decent protection from getting your bag wet on the way in. It even comes with a structured sleep mask and nice ear plugs. Very well thought out, Mammut! awesome sculpted foot box as well! Very comparable to my North Face Darkstar (-40) bag, but better foot box and hood liner. also, it adds the arm openings over the NF one.
Love this bag for hunting early and late season elk in Idaho. Had it three nights in 8 inches of snow and kept me alive and warm. One thing I wish it was better at is packing down. Although it is fairly light, it does not compress very well. But, the zippers for the arms are amazing. Great bag for any hunter staying warm and the best part is you can wear it while glassing!
Fantastic bag for beginner or expert. Anyone that needs to stay warm and comfy. Love all the high end features. The side zippers for your arms bring it to the next level. You can use it for camping and to keep yourself warm while ambushing deer or elk. Swiss quality components make this a better option than some of the competitors.
Très confortable même dans des températures a la limite de sa température d'utilisation. Ouverture latérale pour sortir les bras sans perdre trop de chaleur. Overall excellent sac de couchage d'hiver. Pratique, compacte et relativement léger
the one drawback to this bag, is that it doesn't pack down as much as you would think. I am using it for my truck camper ranging from 12-35°F so far and it has been cozy. for it's intended use i would definitely buy it again!
Great product. Used it camping kept me warm and functioned as advertised. High quality zippers and great overall design. Only reason it isn't scored higher is do to weight and compressibility.
