[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Jetboil makes fantastic products. This is my 2nd Jetboil Zip and while these things are great, they are held back by not having a built-in ignition source. The slightly more expensive Flash solves this issue and is definitely worth the higher price point. I have used both the Flash and Zip extensively and while I love both; the Flash is going to be picked every time. That being said, the Zip is a great option if you always have a lighter handy and you are looking to get into backpacking. They both utilize Jetboil's patented technology that boils water extremely fast and are the perfect coolest to your freeze-dried backpacking meals or ramen noodles. Jetboil gave me this free product to try.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Zip .8 is an awesome product. Boiled water in 90 seconds. Super easy to use in all types of weather (including stiff wind). The only thing I was left wanting with this product was an igniter. I know it adds weight, etc., but if I have to bring a lighter anyway, it may as well be included. Add that and it is a 5 star product in my book. I love how small this thing packs down. It fit great in my backpacking pack, fishing pack, and duffel bag for car camping. Super intuitive to use and exceeded my expectations as far as how fast it boils water. Flame adjustment knob is easy to see and adjust. Love this product for backpacking, fishing, car camping, etc! Jetboil gave me this free product to try.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Disclaimer: Jetboil gave me this product free to test. With that being said I will be reviewing this product as unbiasedly as possible. I am an avid backpacker and have been for quite some time. In the past I have used previous models and versions of Jetboils products. Shown in the picture is both the older model of the Zip and the new version. Weight: (g) Old- 357 New- 362 Length: (") Old- 6 1/16 New- 6 7/16 Time to Boil 1L (average in seconds of 3 trials) Old- 161 New- 135 In conclusion while the newer model is slightly heavier and larger it does boil faster than previous models due to design. Additionally the fuel adjustment knob is significantly larger, featuring a cool topographical texture, making adjustments easier. Overall a significant improvement on previous models. Would love to see an ultralight option from Jetboil in the future.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Zip 0.8L is my new go to stove for most adventures! It is easy to use even without the directions since the labeling on the jetboil illustrates the proper usage. This is the first of the jetboil systems I have owned and I am very pleased with its functionality. I have been able to use it quite a bit this winter and it boiled water quickly even in negative Fahrenheit conditions and higher elevations (tested around 10000 ft). Changing the amount of heat is smooth with the dial and it is seamless to ignite. My favorite part is the lid that makes it effortless to pour hot water out and the additional holes if you need to control the water you drain out. The system is also very easy to clean and pack. I plan to use it not only for ski/snowshoe days but also on my next camping trip to Norway since it's so small and easy to pack. Jetboil gave me this free product to try.
I have not used the one that I ordered as of yet. I bought this because a buddy of mine has it and have used it a few times and it is great. Much lighter than my old setup and is much faster, meaning less fuel. I don't mind that it doesn't have an igniter, I tend to just throw a mini Bic in the cup and leave it there, not to mention I always have another lighter with me for emergencies.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have used the older versions of the jetboil, and they have streamlined a few things. For instance the regulator knob is indicated with a + and - diagram. This may seem trivial but I frequently try and turn up the flame and turn off the gas. Not that big of a deal but I instantly noticed this and now always know which way to adjust the volume. Great product!!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Zip 0.8L is just want I need when you carry your camp on your back during Elk season. The Zip is the right size, fits in your pack with good size and little weight. I like that everything fits into one complete unit with everything well thought out and able to withstand many years of use.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Not a 5-star solely for the lack of heating actual food products. Otherwise, it boils water extremely quickly which helps extend the life of your fuel canisters. This is best used for preparing coffee, teas, or rehydrating dehydrated meal packs.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Jet boil gave me this product to try. I couldn't be happier with it. I've used it winter camping in the Beartooths in Montana and I was amazed how well it worked and how efficient it was. Highly recommended!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] So far it's a 9/10, construction is built nicely but minus one point for no automatic start you need an external spark source to get it going
