The only advantage is the Arc'tx logo on the flap

🇵🇱 Absolutnie niepraktyczny. 🇬🇧 Absolutely impractical. In the photos it looks really cool, and that’s what guided me when buying this daily backpack. The material is great, waterproof, which makes it safe to carry a laptop (for which there is a dedicated compartment). Another advantage is the Arc'teryx logo on the flap – unfortunately only a visual one. That’s about it for the positives :) The flap closure system – not with a clip but with an adjustable strap. Big minus. The drawstring compression uses a not-very-intuitive system: anti-design :( Thin shoulder straps with an uncomfortable chest strap adjustment system – another big minus. At such a high price – I expected something at least decent, but this backpack is simply impractical.

Hi there. Thank you for sharing your detailed feedback on the Granville 25 Backpack. It’s good to know the material and laptop protection worked well for you, but we hear your concerns about the closure system, strap comfort, and overall usability. Your input on functionality is valuable and will be passed along to our design team for consideration in future iterations.

Talk about Versatile!

The Granville backpack has been my go to pack for most activites, and it's done me so well on many trips. I love the sleek and minimal design, and the compartments being all on the inside - alongside a durable exterior - gives me a sense of security to carry all my personal belongings everywhere I go. Although, I find that the front pocket just runs a little too deep. I often find that I have to dig in quite deep when having to fish out smaller items at the bottom end of the pocket. Overall though, high quality of a backpack and still very functional for such a minimal looking pack.

Buyer Beware, Backing Destroys Atoms.

Wonderful backpack but the backing is very abrasive and caused significant pilling on both of my Atom LT's. I don't mind the cosmetics drawbacks, but the pilling caused the DWR to no longer bind to the effected areas. Disappointingly, this was considered normal wear and tear by the after care service team and no warranty work would be done. The AeroForm material specially caused this issue as my other backpacks haven't done this. I would caution future buyers, as Arc'Teryx won't stand by their products anymore.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We’re thrilled to hear you’ve enjoyed the Granville 25 Backpack, but we’re truly sorry to learn that it caused pilling on your Atom LT Hoody. With softshell items like those in the Atom series, constant friction, especially from textured materials, can lead to pilling. While we understand how this can be frustrating, the good news is that pilling doesn’t compromise the overall functionality of the garment. Regarding the DWR finish, if you’ve noticed areas that are no longer repelling moisture, we recommend reapplying a DWR treatment. Just make sure the item is clean first, lay it flat, shake the bottle well, and spray evenly across the surface. You can gently rub the treatment into the fabric with a clean sponge or cloth to help prevent streaking and ensure even coverage. We understand the outcome from our After-Sales team was disappointing, and we want to be transparent about our Limited Warranty. For more details on what is and isn’t covered, feel free to explore our Arc'teryx Limited Warranty page. Thank you again for your feedback, it helps us continue to improve. https://arcteryx.com/ca/en/help/limited-warranty

A well-made bag for urban cyclists and commuters.

I mean, it’s a backpack. Let’s get that out of the way. It won’t change your life. But it’s a thoughtful backpack. It has the perfect pockets for my usb cables, my charging cable, big notebook, small notebook, a few pens, and then the cave for everything else. I thought I would hate the drawstring closure, but it suits the bag perfectly. Great access, makes the most of the space. The fabric seems very durable, and while the black colour does get scuffed up easily, it can be wiped clean, and it all the grime builds up a neat patina that goes well with the bag’s brutalist vibe. The rigid back panel means it’s also easy to throw a high vis cover on it if you’re cycle commuting, no matter how full or empty it is. It only loses a star because it appears to have two loops to attach a removable waist strap… but doesn’t come with a waist strap, and it’s unclear where to get one.

Love this backpack

I love this backpack! I got it in the "Tatsu" colour it looks amazing, super clean and stylish without being flashy. I went with the 25L version mainly because of the way it closes I like that top flap way better than the smaller version. It’s also roomier than it looks, fits everything I need for the day. Really happy with it!

Almost the perfect do it all bag

Almost perfect, but there are a few issues. The positives are as follows. First, the size is great for a full day with lunch, work out stuff a laptop, and a tablet (grad student) and it is great for the PNW weather. The material is burly and it looks slick. The little zipper pocket is really nice. Lastly, you can get a water blatter into the laptop sleeve and snake the hose outs. Also, I do have to say this bag kicks butt traveling, hiking, biking around, etc. On the negative side there are a few bummers that can be fixed easily. First is that the shoulder straps don’t seem designed for the bag. By that I mean that you can load it up (which I love) then it’s too heavy for its shoulder straps. I think the shoulder straps design on the Alpha FL backpack could lend to the design for this. Second, and most odd from arcteryx, on outside fabric just above the zipper pocket on the inside creases in a way that has peeled the laminated coat off of the fabric. I think that the stiffness of the tape that bonds the inner zipper pocket causes this creasing and I think it could be fixed with some extra engineering. (I graduate soon if your hiring, JK) All in all if you decide to buy it you will enjoy it’s high usability and if a version with the wider shoulder straps come out I’ll buy it.

Hello Nathan, thank you so much for the detailed and thoughtful review of the Granville 25 Backpack. We really appreciate the balance of praise and constructive insight. It’s great to hear how well the pack supports your daily grad student life and adventures around the PNW, and we’re glad the size, weather resistance, and versatility are hitting the mark. Your notes on the shoulder strap design and the fabric creasing near the zipper pocket are incredibly helpful, and we agree that these are areas worth exploring further. Not all feedback is this well-articulated, and we’ll be sure to share yours with our product team.
