I have a Thule Alpine, my first cargo box. I rated it 5 stars. It's been repurposed for work. I wanted a larger box to get everything out of the car. So I bought the NX XXL. Compared to the Skybox the Alpine would be a 4, maybe 3. The Thule Alpine is good. Secures to the roof rack securely. No leaks. It's been used for around 20,000 miles. The only issue is I could not fill it to capacity. If anything came in contact with the locking mechanism, which runs the length of the Alpine, it would not lock. I would have to rearrange the cargo. I'm able to stuff the Skybox to capacity. Pull the lid down and it locks. Each and every time. It secures tightly to the roof rack. I would say the Thule and Yakima roof attachment are equal. I'm very pleased.
Bought this for my GX 550 and it works great with the factory low profile rack. Husband installed in 30 minutes and loaded it up for a weekend roadtrip for 5. It rained on us going and returning. No damage to box or our items inside. No excessive gas usage or noise. I bought it on sale and it did not disappoint.
box bounces at highway speed. clamps come a little loose. easy to use and seems made well (though maybe not well designed)
