Great light weight bell!
Great light weight bell, many weight much more. This is the lightest one I seen. Works very well in both ring and silent mode.
Not loud enough
I brought this for my fat-tire bike. Picked it up because I wanted something different than the usual bell. I'll admit up-front that this looks more tuned for mountain biking where drops/rocks/roots/curves will have your bar swinging around and hopefully jangling the bell a bit more... I was on rail-trails and there was almost no ring from the bell at all. My tires made more noise. Started running down the install to see if I messed something up. Tilt it up a bit? Level? Rubber band touching the bell? No, all looks good. I've also owned the Timber bell of similar design. That one would give you a clear ring if you flicked the bar or shimmied the bike a bit. Pluses: Looks fun, easy install, that's about it. Minuses: Doesn't work. I have a hard time imagining a type of riding where this would be useful for alerting others to your presence. If you're going hard enough that the bell is making noise, your approach will be too fast for anyone to do anything about it. Maybe animals with more sensitive hearing?
