Cap leaks but can be fixed
Cap leaks when on its side from factory setup: the plastic nut inside the cap was tightened too much and the gasket had too much force on it. I used a socket wrench to unscrew the nut and then re-tighten with a little more leeway, after this the leak went away. If you have a socket wrench or other tool to do the fix it's worth it as its a great container, but not a great product if you won't be able to fix the leak.
Okay but leaks occasionally.
Tends to leak so have to turn it upright when not using it. The leak seems to be around where the spigot screws into the container (it’s not the on/off valve that’s leaking).
First Impressions are Good
I ordered this instead of settling for Coleman's new and supposedly weaker design. I gave it a wash and a first fill, and any leaks were fixed by a quick tightening of the cap -- you have to manhandle that thing, but it does make a good seal. I'll give it a stress test on the road soon enough, but I'm happy so far.
Leaking cap.
Defective. Cap leaked even screwed on tightly. Too bad seemed sturdy and well made otherwise. Returned to REI.
