Best Sun Hoodie I've found. . .

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Let me get out of the way the only thing I'd improve on this would be to add another snap on the cuffs so that you could tighten it a little bit. Otherwise it's just about perfect. Love the lightweight material without too much spandex (slows drying times). The fit is spot on and the snaps on the collar in the perfect spots to air it out or seal it up. The hood also fits really well. I do wish they had more/better colors this season (3 green-ish shades, really?), and on some samples the stitching could be better (more consistently higher stitch-counts and straighter, more even lines), but overall it's holding together well and been awesome for summer use.

Awesome shirt | fits big

I used this today in full sun and high winds; low temp was in low 60s and high temp was in low to mid-70s. I was comfortable throughout, including the shirt doing a pretty good job with high winds in sections. Love the large, scuba-style hood. Item fits pretty large. I’m 6’, 210 pounds. I’m normally a large—sometimes an extra large—in most shirts. The medium fit me perfectly, which is pretty wild. I tried on medium, large, and extra large; the medium was dead on.

Pretty useful in the sun

Sort of bought this on a whim and then i strongly questioned why i actually paid a good bit of money for it. Used it in earnest for the first time this weekend on a South Rim to Phantom Ranch and back hike/job and it did quite well. The snaps for the hood were the key, i think. Really ensured i got full sun protection by keeping hte hood in place regardless of the wind or whatever pace i was moving at. It blocked the wind a bit more effectively then a regular light hoody id say also. I would say this is not exactly an essential piece of gear but it is a nice one to have for long days in the sun with varied conditions. It would also easily fit over a much lighter shirt.

A solid sun hoodie

I put this hoodie through a bunch of tests to see if it would be my preferred piece of clothing for a multi week hike this summer. When I first tried it on, I liked the way it looked so much that I wore it that evening to a casual social event. The following day, it was great on a long, hot hike. The fabric dries very quickly, remains comfortable under use, doesn’t chaff, and appears to protect well from the sun. My only complaint is that on a windy day the hood caught the wind quite a bit. I’m thinking my fix for it maybe to put a piece of Velcro on the top edge of the hood and attach it to the hat that I wear under the hood. The way the wind catches the hood also required that I kept the shirt fully snapped up while in the wind or it would definitely blow off my head.

Great Multi-Purpose Hoody

I bought it in the spring as a light layer to bike with and it works great. I took it on 4 day backpacking trip in the Tetons and didn’t took it off! Perfect for sun and wind protection. When the temperature dropped, I took it off long enough to put a fleece layer under it. The only thing I would change… a light drawstring for the hood. Even when snapped, with a cap underneath, the wind took the hood off my head.

How green is my hoodie.

Fits well Fabric seems comfortable. Slash pockets might have been nice. Way greener than shown in catalog or online. “Sage” is a pretty accurate descriptor of true color but “Sage Flats” led me to believe color online and in catalog (much lighter) was accurate and trying to be a variation on Sage. Good thing I’m ok with true Sage.

Not durable for sure! Great otherwise

I did not have even a noticeable snag on branch or equipment and the material tore. Until then I was really loving it. It’s just a bummer when a piece of outdoor apparel can’t hold up for its first week of wear! I planned to pack for a bike top but no way … it would fall apart if it hit brush.

Hi Erik, We're sorry to hear our Vescent Hoodie didn't meet your expectations. While we're confident the Vescent styles offer the durability needed for most activities on the trail, sadly we can't guarantee that a rock or sharp branch won't get the best of it. We hope you're reach out at customerexperience@stio.com to receive a complimentary Noso patch.

"Best Gift Ever"

I got this in the color 'sage flats' as a gift for my husband and he has not stopped wearing it. He shared that it might be his favorite top of all time. The fabric is light, breathable, quick drying, and just feels wonderful. It looks good and is functional, 12/10.

So fresh and so clean clean

Wow. Love this piece of gear. Ample sun protection with the hood design, love the snaps and being able to roll up the sleeves. It isnt clingy like all my other sun hoodies, breathes well and looks great too

Great fit!

Over the past few years, I’ve been trying to stay out of the sun while enjoying activities outdoors. My recently purchased Vescent Hoodie is a perfect fit and compliments my other Stio unblocking wardrobe!
