Questionable durability & small chest pocket opening

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I just received the jacket and noticed that the stitching along the base of the sleeve is already coming apart. So, I question the long-term durability of the jacket. Also, the opening of the chest/Napoleon pocket is on the small side, which might be an issue for people with larger hands.

I've beat the heck out of it.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I originally bought this jacket to be my temporarily soft shell but ended up liking it so much that I kept using it. I've had this jacket on backpacking trips, trail runs, ultra marathons, bike trips and much more over the past year. It's starting to show some serious signs of wear but is still completely functional. For not being a real 'technical' piece of clothing it has definitely stood up to the elements.

Comfortable

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This jacket is perfect for fall and spring in it's incredible how the water just beads right off of the fabric, it also provides a fair amount of warmth in winter if you layer up underneath...fantastic jacket and would recommend to anyone looking for a lighter jacket that keeps you dry but also winter warm

Poor stitching

After 2 weeks, the stitching at the Velcro (near the wrist cuff) and at the base of the sleeve is already coming apart.

Tough jacket! Even good with dogs.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have had this jacket for about 2-3 years now. The jacket, despit it’s age, still looks good, overall it is holding up pretty well. The jacket has become my work jacket and still does not have any holes. Most of my work has been in construction, but the thing that amazes me the most is how well it holds up with my dog. My dog is very large and when he gets to playing really hard, he tends to bite my arm, not trying to hurt me, but he does have some sharp teeth, and to this day, the jacket has held up to that. No wear marks or scratches in the material from that at all. This is a great products and is very tough. I’m very happy with the purchase.

Best Jacket I have ever Owned

Resilient, comfortable and very well manufactured. What I especially like are the sizes of the pockets. More specifically, the volume is large, but the directional placements of these pockets mean that when full they fall into a placement that is very comfortable and promotes movement. Within several days of owning this jacket, a steady downpour occurred during an office excursion to lunch. It kept me very warm and the moisture did not penetrate the shell- very happy. Other things I may say- it runs on the small side in terms of shoulder and armpits. An XL fits comfortably, however, the arm length and waist length is longer than I would like it to be.

Fit and Color

Purchased this jacket to wear with my work uniform. The Buffalo color matches my brown work pants pretty well. Looks great in casual attire (jeans and khakis) as well. As I'm 6 feet tall and broad shouldered, I'd prefer to have a 3XL. However, the 2XL fit seems just about perfect for uniform wear. My only complaint about the fit, other than the lack of a 3XL, is the sleeves. The length is fine, but they seem tight. I don't have Popeye'esque forearms or overly large biceps, but Columbia Softshell jackets always seem to have tighter sleeves than other brands. It's not uncomfortable, but doesn't leave a lot of room for other layers.

Good Soft Shell, Minor Issues

Bought this jacket for the shoulder seasons. Have used it for about three weeks and it functions as expected. No real cold weather yet this season, so can't evaluate against that yet. Materials and workmanship are excellent. I have two minor issues. First, I would prefer the jacket were just a little shorter in vertical length. An inch or two shorter and it would sit below the waist instead of at the hips. That may not be a problem for taller guys though. Second, for the love of all that is sacred, include an inside pocket!! How hard is that? The outside pocket is fine, but does not work for multiple items (i.e. phone and wallet). Better yet, TWO inside pockets.

Flipping Awesome Jacket

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I live in central Florida, And I wear Sweaters EVERYDAY. Don't ask, I have issues. BUt my sweaters were wearing out and I hate buying new ones. SO my friend introduced me to these softshell jackets. I got the Orange and Black one cause Orange is my jam. I freaking love this Jacket! It is so comfortable to wear, light and sturdy. Looks amazing and goes with any occasion. I cannot speak enough about this jacket. Only 1 Con, if you can call it that. No internal pockets!!! My buddy has a Columbia jacket almost identical and it has these great internal pockets that fit a Nintendo Switch in them. This one did not. But it has a breast zipper pocket, so that is something.

Solid choice for mild weather

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased this jacket to replace a similar type of steel/jacket that I liked quite a bit (it was issued by a previous employer, and I was looking for something similar with no corporate branding). I'm very happy with this shell — it works great for most of the cooler weather we have in Texas, and it surprisingly warm for only being a single layer. I have the black with the orange zippers, and the extra bit of color is a nice touch. It's a simple, understated style that doesn't draw attention to itself. The only issue I would note is a lack of interior pockets, but it's a minor complaint. The three pockets that it has all include zippers which can completely close.
