The first thought I had when I put this pack on was holy $@#% this thing is comfortable! It conforms to your back instantly. I didn't have to adjust the sizing but it looks quite easy. This pack is also loaded with features. It continues to surprise me and I think I'll go quite some time before I fully discover everything that it has to offer. I used this pack backcountry skiing extensively over 2 weeks and it's officially my new daypack for ski missions. While it doesn't technically have a dedicated pouch for shovel & probe the front panel works perfectly for the shovel handle and probe, and the shovel itself fits nicely inside the pack. It is worth noting that it supports a-frame ski carry but not horizontal, and it would probably not work well for carrying a solid snowboard. You wouldn't want to use it at the resort as it's a little too big for that. While this is a bit big for a hiking daypack for me personally it would also work great for that, especially if you need to carry extra equipment or stuff for the family. It would also be a superb option for an ultralight backpacking setup or a mountaineering pack. I wouldn't recommend it for super technical climbing but would work well on routes 5.7 and under. I have only used this in the snow so I haven't fully tested its durability yet but everything seems very well made and the ripstop fabric should hold up for years. Overall I'm loving this pack and don't have anything negative to say about it at this point.
I've been searching the last couple of years for the perfect pack. Every pack I've tried has been missing something, like reachable side pockets for drinks or frames that stay wet for hours on a hot day hiking. This pack will be replacing all my other day packs. So happy I took a chance. I wish REI would stock this to try in the stores but glad I took a chance online. Nemo has definitely thought this new pack through and it shows. I'll be trying out the 45l for backpacking later this year.
I've been able to put the Persist 30 at work with a full week in the mountains with a total weight of 20-30lbs. First of all, the comfort is out of this world. The padding on your back is well distributed and is no doubt one of the most comfortable backpacks out there. Then, the features have been really well designed. the waist straps contain a water bottle that DOES NOT move around as you walk, which is what was happening with most packs out there. The front pouch is big enough yet not bulk to store waterproof items. There are enough loops around the pack for external packing or drying items. The tightening straps are very easy to use and bright orange so you can see them easily in the dark. I used the Persist along with the Tensor Elite pad and the Pulse Quilt for the ultimate ultralight kit in the mountains, and I have to say– it did not disappoint!! :)
Once you try the hip belt on this pack you’ll never go back to a regular bag again — why hasn’t another backpack company thought of this before?!? Moving the connection point to the side removed the pinch point and abrasive edges of normal hip belt buckles that usually rub my gut raw while hiking. Huge fan of the full-zip opening which lets me access everything in the bag. The adjustment system is easy and intuitive, the padding is ultra-cushy and the shoulder strap pockets have become my go-to for holding on-the-go snacks and my communication devices. Bonus: the incorporated water bottle holder on the hip belt transfers water weight off your shoulders and onto your hip and I can actually reach my bottle without taking off my pack!!!
This back pack is exactly what I was looking for so long! Went though multitudes of other packs and none were as comfortable and at the same time well thought as this! Nemo exceeded my expectations this time. First of all the comfort and the back panel + hip belt are first class. The backpack becomes part of your back. Secondly, it really well built the torso of course is adjustable, and the pockets are fantastic - I can even fit an iPhone 16 Pro Max in the hip belt with a rugged Otterbox case! Bottom line super happy with this purchase. recommend.
The Persist is a tough, versatile pack that could be used for just about anything. There's a lot of configuration available- Daisy chain loops that can adjust the position of the compression straps, as well as some hooked shock cord segments that encourage you to play around with their position. I like them on the bottom, attached to the gear loops, to stash a tent or packraft. It feels like there's a ton of configurability. The fit of the pack is awesome. It hugs you and doesn't bounce around. The CCubed cushion feels great and is breathable, and the face fabric and zipper feel rock solid. I wasn't sure about the metal hip buckle at first, but when my kid stepped on it I realized the male side is bulletproof and the female side is always on the cushion of the hip belt, so it should be a lot more reliable and durable then the standard tri buckle. Cool pack. I'm looking forward to using it for hammocking, paddling, kid stuff, even some overnight camping. Anything that requires gear.
Got the Persist out for an eight mile day hike and loved it. The hip belt is awesome, the weight distribution was fantastic, the zippered bottle/bear spray holder is super cool. The material seems super tough. Will know more about the back ventilation with warmer weather hikes.
This pack was everything I was looking for. Needed a day pack, and this delivered. Probably the most comfortable pack I own. Love the space and compartments. Will be getting one for the partner!
Incredibly tough backpack! It is sleek without any extra frills. Very glad about this purchase as it will be my new go to.
