Perfect replacement for old chair
This replacement seat fits my 10+ years old flexible flexlite chair. I'm fact, it's easier to assemble than the original seat (didn't need to use any strength/force to get the last corner onto the pole). One drawback is the replacement seat doesn't have a small pocket under the seat, but not a big deal to remove any stars from the rating.
Works
The seat in my original Flexlite chair had torn a few times, and I had repaired it a few times. The Speedy Stitch Awl works well for that, just lay a small piece of webbing on it and sew. But I decided it was time to get a replacement, if one was available. It is a good replacement, but uses the new design, and is only available in green. While I prefer the mesh original seats, this will work fine.
Not compatible with FLEXLITE MACRO frame
I'd like to thank the support representative who confidently assured me that this replacement seat was compatible with my REI FLEXLITE MACRO chair frame. Based on that advice, I had two seats shipped to the nearest REI store and drove 26 miles each way with my chair frame so I could verify the fit. This replacement seat is not compatible with the MACRO chair. This seat is too small for the frame. What's especially frustrating is that I understand REI sold the correct replacement seat model until 2025, yet it is no longer available. As a result, I now have two perfectly good chair frames that are likely headed for the landfill. Even if it had fit the MACRO frame, it wouldn't have been a true replacement, because the original seat is rated 300lbs and is better quality. This seat is rated 250lbs. The issue isn't just the discontinued part—it's that I specifically contacted support beforehand to avoid exactly this situation. I relied on the information provided and was given incorrect compatibility guidance. This experience has cost me a significant amount of time, fuel, and frustration, and it has seriously damaged my confidence in REI's product support. After this experience, I have little interest in purchasing another premium-priced REI chair if replacement parts and compatibility information cannot be relied upon. I hope REI will review how compatibility information is communicated to customers.
Sturdy Replacement
Seems sturdier than the original, but I miss the mesh part of the original seat and no side pocket, BUT overall, I’m very happy with the purchase. It’s cheaper than buying a new whole chair.
Great Replacement
Perfect replacement for my 6 year old chair. Feels like a better build than the previous version but I see it’s out of stock, hopefully I didn’t get the last one.
back in business
works as a replacement for stoic camp chairs as well. pretty much same configuration but stoic didn't offer replacements. thanks REI for filling the gap
