Looks great but didn't fit

Received free product

Unfortunately the size I was sent does not fit so I'm not really able to review - bummer because it seems like a great shoe and looks great on (though unsurprisingly, the white will show scuffs and marks within minutes). Runs a bit large.

Desperately missing the Norvan SL shoe

When will Arcteryx bring back the Norvan SL shoe? This was my dream shoe, light weight, minimalist yet comfortable and protective. You could feel the ground but i felt good and connected. The shoe felt like an extension of your foot, a super grippy, stable foot. I used these for running, long distance hiking, anything that didn't require travel in snow basically. The norvan replacements don't work for my foot and feel big and clunky. Add new products for sure but please bring the SL shoe back as nothing compares in the current line and there is nothing else on the market I have found to replace it with. Thank you!

Hello there, thank you so much for taking the time to share this thoughtful feedback about the Norvan SL and how it supported your running and long‑distance hiking — it’s clear how much that lightweight, minimalist feel meant to you. We also appreciate your honest comments about the Norvan LD 4, and we’re sorry to hear that the current fit and ride don’t offer the same connection to the ground that you valued in the SL. While we don’t have plans to bring the SL back at this time, insights like yours are incredibly important to our product teams as they continue refining the LD line and exploring future designs. Your perspective helps us understand where the experience isn’t matching expectations, and we’re grateful you took the time to tell us.

Awesome light weight shoe

I received this product for free in exchange for my honest review. I have been exited to try the Norvan line since it was released but was torn buying yet another hike/trail run shoe so this was an amazing opportunity for me. The Norvan LD 4 has a nice toebox. I often run wide and these were fairly comfortable right out of the box and after a few wears they were great. I love that they have a full lace and a garage it really allows to fine tune the fit and keep the laces locked in. I took on Old rag and these had enough protection from rocks while alowing for good flexibility while scrambling. They handled a 10 mile hike like a charm. I have also worn them during several of my work shifts at about 10 miles a day with no issue. Although white is a hard color to keep clean these were easily wiped down and still look pretty great!

Not for weak ankles

Wanted to love these shoes but I can't. Firstly, DO NOT WEAR IF YOU HAVE WEAK ANKLES!!! The stack height coupled with the soft soles means there's not a whole lot of stability. I rolled my ankle turning on my heel, while on on a flat surface indoors- wasn't even hiking. Secondly, they feel very tight in the sides after a while, painfully so. Lastly, after wearing them daily for three months I started to get wear points where the fabric began to rip on the sides. I'm disappointed because I like the design from an aesthetic viewpoint.

Hello there, thank you for taking the time to share this experience with the Norvan LD 4 GTX. It’s unfortunate to hear about the stability concerns, the tightness you felt over time, and the early wear on the sides. Footwear should feel supportive and comfortable in everyday use, and it’s completely understandable that this fell short of what you were hoping for, especially when you appreciated the design. Your feedback around ankle support, fit, and durability is genuinely appreciated and will be shared with the product team, as insights like yours play an important role in guiding future improvements.

Great daily trail shoe

The sizing definitely runs long. I am normally a US women's 8.5-9 and had to size down to an 8. I have a wide forefoot, high arch, and narrow heel. Given this, I find the toe box to be a bit narrow, putting pressure on my little toes and my heel feels a little loose. I replaced the insole with a Superfeet running insole which helped my arch and improved the heel slip. As far as feel, these are a little stiff, feel very responsive on the trail and have good protection to avoid stubbed toes. I have only 10 miles on them over 2 days and can see the toe box breaking in. The lacing system is amazing and I am able to loosen the area over the toes while keeping the arch snug. The tread seems to work well in loose gravel and rocks. For long distances, I would prefer more cushioning.

saved my trip to Scotland

While getting ready for a hiking trip to Scotland I developed Achilles tendinitis with less than a month to go. Boots didn’t work any more and so many shoes were too high or too low and rubbed the afflicted area. This was perfect and they are sleek looking for travel too. So good that I’m taking a second pair in white as a backup.

Lightweight GTX shoe - on the stiffer side!

Loved the color but otherwise shoe is very stiff. Used daily on trail, requires a long break-in period but found toe shell rubbed a lot due to material rigidity. Average traction on trails. Had to size down to match fit, lightweight shoe & good waterproofing.

Extremely light weight and comfy

These shoes are extremely light and quite comfy. I have not worn them in the rain yet, so I cannot comment on the waterproofness of them. Overall I am quite happy with these so far.

Ready for the rain

Great shoe to navigate around town in the rain! Light weight and sleek. I had to buy it in two colors!
