I've been wearing HOKA's Bondi shoe for over 7 years now, and the SR does not disappoint! The elevated upper leather makes for easy cleaning and extra protection, especially in road running conditions. I opted for the W and do not regret one bit! I previously experienced some pinching on my baby toe with previous models, but have SO much space with these! Love love love! Regular size worn: 8.5/9 Size Purchased: 8.5W
These are pretty stiff and surprisingly uncomfortable. The top of the tongue also cuts into my ankle with each step. Definitely returning.
Hands down the most comfortable Hoka I have purchased thus far.
I thought I was ordering another pair of Hoka sneakers in a different color. Both a wide size. I wanted to keep the white pair for inside exercise and use these outside. It turned out these have a different, waterproof upper that, combined with being wide, makes them look very clunky and unattractive. Unlike the other pair, they are also too wide. Unfortunately, i wore them before realizing this thinking it was safe because I knew the white pair fit well and looked ok.
I ordered the Hoka Bondi SR online, as I wanted a durable shoe that I can use for long walks, treadmill, and every day wear. I have never tried Hoka before, but the reviews looked great for what I needed. Unfortunately, once I received them and saw the in-person, the style was unimpressive. I tried them on, and the sole and upper were very stiff. I did not notice the level of cushion that I read about in reviews. Not to mention, the look of the harbor mist/lunar rock has a very sterile appearance, perhaps more of a healthcare worker look..
This SR model of Bondi is based on the #9 version of the shoe. I have used Bondi through versions 6,7,and 8 and LOVED them. But not the 9's!! Hoka made some change to the midsole(?) that makes the ball of my foot hurt. It took me a while to figure out that it was the new 9 version that was the problem. I have had trouble with every version 9 Bondi that I have tried. They last for a couple weeks feeling good and then the ball of my foot gets painful.
I’m planning on using them in my kitchen job. The tongue does dig into my ankle if I leave it laced all the way, how it arrived, but if I just take one lace level down it’s still secure and doesn’t dig in. Overall they’re quite comfortable, especially with my personalized insole from a local running store.
Bought a pair of these one year ago for my landscaping job. Couldn't wear boots anymore due to plantar fasciitis. Although these lack the stability I used to get wearing boots for work, they have lasted much longer than any boot I have worn for work. These are showing signs of wear and age but are not falling apart in any way. I have not had any name brand, high-end, boots last longer than 9 months in the last 10 years due to quality going overall downhill throughout the industry during that time. Used to get 18-24 months of wear and was working more hours a week 10+ years ago. The leather has stretched and it makes them more comfortable. I have a pair of non-leather bondis and I find the toe bed too narrow and the fit somewhat smaller overall. These stretched out, and they are very comfortable. They have remained waterproof also. They do not make my feet hot even on hot days in the sun. True to size for me, a bit stiff out of the box but leather softened quickly. Only complaint is the laces come untied within minutes so have to be knotted. This seems to be a chronic problem now with pricey shoes- they cheap out on the laces - test your products manufacturers ! I will continue to wear these for my gardening tasks at home once I find a trail runner to sub for boots, and I may buy a new pair of these just to wear for non work.
I love these. Great grip, they don't slip, water proof. Work well outside your feet stay dry, and on trails sand stays out. Bought several in different colors before Hoka changes the design of a shoe I love.
