Not the usual…

I’ve been wearing Hokas for years but the Bondi 9 has cut some corners. The toe box feels more narrow than before so not as comfortable. (And my foot is narrow!) The tongue is a lot shorter and they eliminated the pull tab on the back. Jeez, for $170 they should be top of the line special, not cutting corners.

Bondi 9 is a big miss

These are very unstable and not as comfortable as the Bondi 8. The insole and stability is not great, your foot wobbles in them, and makes walking very awkward. They Supposedly have more cushion, but it's a firm cushion. The Bondi 8 seems much more comfortable - more giving, better support through the midsole and heel. The heel lip in the back of the Bondi 9 is also over the top big and ugly, as well as uncomfortable.

HUGE HIT

I’ve been wearing my new pair of HOKA Bondi 9 for several weeks now. I see reviews are mixed for this shoe. However, I personally find the Bondi 9 an absolutely fantastic and very comfortable walking shoe - no joke! I very much appreciate the extra cushioning on the insole! The insole - for me - also seems to be more level with the toe end tipping more evenly rather than tilting up or downward. I’ve been wearing HOKA now ever since they first came out. Their first shoe was a major hit and this Bondi 9 shoe - for me - is also a major hit. Just love it. I’m an avid walker. Well done HOKA! And, thank you…

Narrow, uncomfortable

I've been a long time fan of Hoka Bondi 8 - I've probably had three or four pairs. They are my go to running shoes. So I was pretty excited for the Bondi 9's. Boy am I disappointed. I always get the wide size of the Bondi 8 and I did the same with the Bondi 9. These are remarkably narrow - I couldn't finish a day in them, I can't even imagine trying to run in them. They pinched my forefoot and rubbed on the lateral aspect of my feet. They also feel taller in the stack, and without the usual width/sponginess, I felt like I was going to roll my ankle. Such a bummer.

Terrible update to the Bondi 9

I'm very disappointed with the changes they made to the Bondi 9. The main difference is that they changed the fabric to something that is rougher and more mesh-like. They also made the back of the shoe (the part that touches your Achilles) very narrow and V shaped, instead of the U shape that the Bondi 8 had. Between the narrow shape and the mesh-like fabric, it really pinches the back of your foot and grabs the sock so it causes a rubbing sensation. You'd have to wear a very thin and smooth sock for this not to happen. I found this really terrible so I had to return them, unfortunately. I instead got a pair of Gaviotas which still maintain the U-shape of the back of the shoe and the smooth fabric.

Great shoe that is not well made

I love my Bondi's fit and I have three pairs now. However, I find that they fall apart after the 500 miles which for me is six months of walking, not even running! The inner ball of the foot area split open on both sides and the interior cushioning on the heel is worn out. This feels excessive for a $170 shoe. I own other brands of less expensive wide toe box running shoes and they are well past their 500 mile and I no longer run in them but wear them casually and they have not split open and are not visually worse for the wear. I just think that a shoe that is $20-30 more expensive than a competitor should be a well-built, sturdy shoe. Please fix this Hoka!

Maybe runs a bit narrow at the toes

Narrow fit compared to my Bondi 8. I wore these on a trip to Europe and no joke have no fewer than 6 blisters on my right foot due to weird rubbing on my right pinky toe and the inside of the right foot. Weirdly no blisters on my other foot so who knows? Walked at least 90 miles in them, received most of the blisters on day one. I have ordered a pair of the wides to see if that solves the issue since I do like the shoes in general. It's also possible i just got a weird shoe? Thank goodness for blister bandages.

Terrible redesign

This is drastically redesigned and if you happily wore Bondi 8’s be prepared for shin splints. I did not know and have not been able to walk now for several days because of the pain. The new 9’s also caused by arthritic ankle to swell up like a golf ball. Have an acupuncture appointment in two days to help it return to normal size. The 9’s might work for you but keep the box in case you need to return them.

Toebox is now too narrow

I've been wearing the Bondi for years in size nine wide. I tried on the new Bondi 9 at REI in black. I did not want black so I ordered Blue/Mint Flouride. The toebox is so narrow compared to the black that I can not wear it and will send it back. Hoka, please be consistent in your sizing for your customers, your company, and the earth.

Hola and Bondi9

I have been buying Hoka shoes for my picky feet in the past three years. I have had Achilles issues for many years and born with flatfoots. Walking a long distance is a problem for me until I started wearing Hoka. Bondi 9 is airy, bouncing and effortless. I love them!
