These pants are great! I really like the fit and the styling and have received several compliments on them. I am of slim build and these fit me perfectly. Other brands of pants that I’ve tried tend to be too loose in the leg and these are more fitted yet the material has a nice stretch to it so that they do not feel confining. The material used resists wrinkles and dirt, sheds water, and is breathable making them comfortable for warm weather hikes as well as for travel - they remained comfortable and still looked good after a recent 14 hour flight. Bought a second pair and these are my now my go-to pants for travel and day hikes.
I wrote a similarly positive review about the Active Traveler Stretch Pant. Royal Robbins has done a great job with the fit and finish of their long pant. True to size, comfortable, durable and the short rise option accommodates my needs perfectly. The cuff cords, double waste closure and versatile pockets are superb and highlight thoughtful design elements. This pant is heavier than the aforementioned Stretch Pant but no less comfortable and perfect for cooler and abusive environments. I am in the field a lot chasing birds and other fauna and this pant has served me well. Equally appropriate as casual wear around town and easy to maintain. Zero complaints.
I got these pants as a gift about three months ago as a gift and have been very happy so far. They are somewhat heavier than many hiking pants, but still very comfortable and stretchy. I am excited to take them on my travels to Iceland over the summer, and they are likely to be the only pants I need! The only issue I have is that the snap just does not stay closed for me no matter what I do, and I end up having to wear a belt. I would prefer not to, but I'd also rather not have then unbutton every time I even bend over. They fit great in every other way and are still worth wearing often, even if I have to have a belt.
Royal folks, we need these in a blue color, please!!! These are awesome pants because the fabric is so comfortable and performs so well, because of the zippered pocket on the right thigh (my iPhone Pro Max fits beautifully, thank you very much), because the pockets drain and dry and are of a very high quality mesh, because there are two internal sub-pockets inside the right side hip slant cutout pocket (easy access), and because they fit so darned well. And thanks so very much for offering such a wide variety of articulated sizes; that is truly awesome. Now, how about a blue color to add to the charcoal and khaki, since these are such a popular pant and sell well for you?
Love these pants. Versatile, comfortable, great all-around pants. Originally got these for hiking, but I reach for them even when I’m going out on the town.
These are the best hiking pants I own and it's not even close. Not the dreaded baggy style that's for some reason still popular with outdoor brands, and while they're slim fitting, they're not restrictive, they move really well. If a fellow hiker is asking me about my gear, 9 times out of 10 it's about these pants because they want to get a pair. They look great in all off-trail settings too, I wear them to work. I have both the khaki and charcoal colors, and as soon as they release a new color I'll be buying my next pair.
Firstly, the pants fit very well, no odd tightness or bulges with excellent freedom of movement. The fabric is soft and light, but with enough weight for protection, warmth and carrying stuff in the pockets. The sand color was excellent in the sun and the material breathes well, great combination of warm and cool in one garment. They are fairly abrasion resistant and dry quickly, necessary qualities in the Grand Canyon. The testing period was two weeks plus with several hand washings. Recommended without reservation
I own many pairs of these pants and absolutely swear buy them. They really are the only go anywhere, do anything pair of pants I've ever owned. You could absolutely wear them on an outdoor adventure and into the office equally. They don't wrinkle. If you think they do, wear them for 10 mins and the wrinkle you thought you saw will have vanished. They're magic. The one worry I have is that although these have been in good supply for the many years I've been buying them, I notice currently stock is down to a single color and many sizes of it are unavailable. I've contacted support and been told they haven't been discontinued. I can only hope Royal Robbins won't discontinue pants they describe as "best selling", "a customer favorite", and "insanely versatile". Keep making them and I'll keep buying them.
Fit is as expect. The fabric is comfortable, water resistant, dirt resistant, breathable. Leg opening is narrow and, therefore, somewhat stylish. Only complaint: on one leg opening on one pair of pants (I own two), the elastic cord allowing the leg opening to be tightened or loosened around boots quickly detached from pants fabric. This area receives a lot of wear and tear; so the detachment was not so unexpected, nonetheless disappointing.
These pants fit so well because they have custom options like shorter inseams. I love that they have corded ankles to cinch tighter when needed. I also love that they have a slim profile, when all other hiking pants are so baggy. These pants just look so nice! My favorite aspect is that they aren’t coated with some awful water resistant finish that feels weird. They are just water resistant on their own! The fabric feels really nice.
