Great style, a little itchy.

I love the look and function of this hat. It looks great and offers quite a bit of flexibility with respect to the temperature range in which it works. I haven't used the "mask" yet, but imagine it'll come in handy when out on winter walks with my toddler and when running errands in the mandated mask age of COVID-19. The only thing that prevents me from giving a 5-star rating is that the Fleece can get a little itchy on the forehead when temperatures rise and a little sweat starts to form; a brushed fleece headband likely would have worked better in this regard. That said, I still think the Whitefish Hat was a great purchase and I will certainly wear it regularly through the late fall and winter months.

Splendid utilitarian winter hat

The daily utility and simple styling of this hat are excellent. It is comfortable and warm and protects my head well when the temperatures are below 0° C. (It is time to stop clinging to impractical units of temperature such as Fahrenheit and Kelvin, don't you think? As some one else put it Celsius makes the most sense.) I am not yet commenting on durability because I have had the hat for just a couple of months. With good care, I predict that it would last a few years. I hope OR would keep this product for a long time.

Super Rad Hat

This is one of the warmest hats that I have worn. I do a lot of landscape and sports photography. That means standing outside in the elements for long periods of time just waiting. This hat looks good when the flaps are up and looks even better when the flaps are down. The added face guard is a life saver when the wind is really blowing. The fold-able brim is great, but I'm not sure it's necessary. I didn't feel like I would ever just shove this into a pocket. It's a great hat and I'm super happy I bought it.

New favorite hat!

Living in the PNW it's nice to have a hat that meets various conditions. The shell of the hat repels water so well I don't need to wear my shell hood when it's raining. If it's cold enough, I'll drop the earflaps down and snap them together under my chin. Super warm! If it warms up, I'll snap them together on top. But, what really makes a hat is the fit. With a big noggin, finding a great fitting hat is very difficult. My hat size is 7 5/8. The XL fits perfectly!

Think about sizing up

I have many hats, and this will be one of my new favorites for cool weather-wear! I am normally a 7-3/8" hat size, which is Large by the size chart. It was too snug, so I returned it for a XL which fits much better. Just a touch loose, but that's better than too snug for comfort and warmth. The fit isn't poor, it just didn't align with the size chart. Can't wait to get some wear in this hat! I know it's a good hat, when my wife just shakes her head at me, ha!

Comfortable, Warm, and Innovative!

Don't let the classic "Cousin Eddie" looks fool you- this hat boasts a bunch of well-thought features that make it the most versatile piece of winter headwear I own! You can go from "fur up" mode that is perfect for a cool fall day, all the way to the ear flaps snugly snapped beneath your chin (appreciate the 2 snaps to account for size variance) and the built in face mask securely velcroed across your mouth and chin and tackle the absolute coldest temps and worst winter weather conditions. I always appreciate a brimmed winter hat to cut down on glare and keep the elements off my eyewear and the size on this one is just right. I fall right between medium and large in hat world and while the medium is snug with the faux fur lining, I think I prefer that to a winter hat that is too loose... but I think either size would have fit.

Warm and comfy!

I have 1" stretched ears and nothing keeps them warm. Beanies and headbands never cover my lobes so I'm always forced to wear hoods, which can get annoying when combined with my long hair. This hat fixes all my problems. Wore it camping at 30° and got too hot while collecting firewood that I had to take it off. Once I sat down to relax, I put it on and it was perfect. If I get even colder, I can always throw a hood on over it as well. Love it.

Way better than expected

I'm a beanie guy, not a trapper hat guy, but this is more like a normal ball cap with ear flaps. Fit and style, far exceeded my expectations, super warm and the face mask that's tucks away is AWESOME! Wore it on a couple really cold snowshoe hikes and walking the pooch in a blizzard, worked fantastic. Not something I'd rock every day and it's also too warm if it's not brutally cold, but I'm super happy with its performance when it was needed.

The BEST

Great hat, especially for people with big heads. Warm, well made, quiet (noisy hats are the worst…) Actually covers my ears and back of my head properly. I’ve never found a hat that fits as well as this one. Might look a bit silly but who cares? It’s awesome. AND it keeps the snow out of your eyes…! Some different colors would be nice but I’ll buy a few of these on the off chance they get discontinued.

Whitefish Hat, a good purchase for mountain weather.

The Whitefish Hat is vestal hat for varying weather of the Rockies (or any other cold weather place). Holding the ear flaps up, allows the for functional use in mild temperatures but when the temperature drops the ear flaps keep your head nice and warm. The built in face warmer is a nice touch, especially if you lose your buff while tramping through the woods. Would recommend to others.
