Best nights sleep I’ve had camping. Very comfortable pad and felt similar in weight and packability to the basic closed cell pad. Took it winter camping down to -16 and was very warm
It’s just me and my once injured back, but unlike the other thermarest mats I sleep on nightly (I need extreme firmness) this mat was too soft. The claim of reinforced areas didn’t work for me.
This is a great compact pad. It truly does self inflate, takes several minutes but I give it two puffs to full inflation.
Well worth every penny! I have owned several Thermarest sleeping pads over the years and they are the most comfortable and most reliable sleeping pads I've used. I've tried some other brands and ended up tossing them or returning them because they're just not as good. These self-inflating pads are a bit on the heavy side, but I've even taken them while backpacking to ensure a better night's sleep. And Thermarest stands behind their product! If you take care of it and it gives you a problem, Thermarest will take care of you! If you want comfortable sleep, go with Thermarest!
I got the XL size for extra width and this pad worked out great. It’s easy to inflate, super comfortable, and easy to deflate and roll up when it’s time to pack up.
I have slept on my Luxury Map Pad for the last 425 nights without any problems. I bought it because the foam mattress for the bunk bed in my travel trailer was worn out. The Luxurymap XL fit perfectly. It mostly self inflated and I only needed to add a few puffs. Since then I have only needed to add another puff one time. The firmness does vary slightly depending on the barometric pressure but all inflatable pads do that. I never heat the travel trailer but my body heat warms the Luxurymap up fast and keeps me toasty even in cold weather. I sleep under an Enlightened Equipment quilt so having a pad with good insulation like the Luxurymap is an important part of my sleep system. Comfort is excellent because I only inflated it enough to keep my hips from bottoming out when I sleep on my side. I know from experience that maximum inflation makes any pad too stiff to be comfortable. It has been very durable with no leaks, no signs of wear, and no wallowed out spots after daily use for 14 months. I weigh 125lbs. It is quiet and easy to wash in the shower
Very plush, yet lightweight. Not for backpacking, though. The regular is narrow, so consider that.
We have tried several other thick camping mattresses for our car camps. This one is by far the best.
I wanted to love this pad but unfortunately, the fabric is noisy when you roll over (crunchy feel/sound like a rain jacket). If you are not sound-sensitive, you might love this pad.
Fantastic. Only con would be the pad might need a little nudge of air from yourself.
