This is a great probe if weight is a primary concern. The locking mechanism is easy to use and reliable. The tip segment being brightly colored and differently colored from the rest of the probe makes it easy to get the pole assembled quickly - when my group practices avvy rescue, I am usually the fastest to have my gear assembled because of these sorts of features. This probe is visibly less durable than similar aluminum probes, so if you need something that can take a lot of abuse, consider going with something that's not quite as light.

Well Built - Lightweight - Compact

I was surprised at the build quality of this probe. It's incredibly lightweight while still deploying smoothly and holding firm even while probing densely packed snow. It's a piece of my kit that I trust. Markings are very clear and easy to read. The probe packs down nicely and doesn't make any clinking sounds while sitting in my backpack. While it's a perfect probe for all the skiing I do, someone skiing more questionable terrain might be best suited purchasing a longer probe.

Smaller gauge, hard to get used to

Bought because it is light weight, but I think there are things that get sacrificed for the shaved weight. It's noticeably skinnier than traditional gauge probes and sometimes it's hard to get a good grasp of it even with my tiny hands, leading it to not latch quickly. Feel of vibration coming back to my hand also feels different and takes getting used to, particularly when the probe gets a hit.

Makes my old probe feel like a steel tent pole

I upgraded probes after ~15 years, and it's shocking how much lighter weight and easier to deploy this one is. Compact is an understatement in the avy gear pocket of my touring pack, and the handle works great for locking it into place quickly. Probes are a simple tool to evaluate, and this one is lightweight, sturdy, and reliable to deploy and collapse. Not much more you can ask for

Quick deploy, light and strong

They do what they're supposed to. Fortunately haven't had to use in a real burial, but have used in quite a few training sessions and they work. No fuss deployment and they're strong

Feels flimsy

Cons: Feels pretty flimsy when fully extended and attached. The cable handle is hard to find. once fully extended the locking mech does not stay fully locked. Pros: SUPER LIGHT
