These are my go-to shoe for mixed weather hikes and approaches. They’re comfy around the heel and provide ample support around the ankle. Roll tide!
Great grip.
I'm avid hiker and I thought I'd give the Halestrom 2 a try. I been in the Linnville Gorge a few times, up Elk Knob a few times. Today I was on the AT trail in Roan Mt area. Today was the real test. Much water, mud, many big rocks to work around. I happy to report grip is excellent. Waterproofing is excellent. The trail was rough today. So my concern is will these boots hold up over time. Time will tell. BTW the fit is awesome and the boot is very comfortable. Also I have a pair of Astrals water shoes the are absolutely wonderful.
been LIVING in these boots this winter
I've been LIVING in these boots this winter. The waterproof lower part mixed with the soft hemp upper is genius. The waterproof rubber is perfect puddle / snowy parking lot height. The interior is crazy soft and feels really good. Awesome luggy grip, esp in wet mud or icey snow. I tie little knots in the ends of the laces and wear them like slip ons. Even when hiking on trails, they fit well like that. Can't recommend enough.
Sleek and additional comfort from previous design!
I purchased the black, because the other color was out in my size and I’m so glad I did. They are sleek! The step in comfort is top notch and the extra padding around the achilles/heel is 2 steps up from the previous version. I love that Astral is embracing Hemp as an alternative material to use in shoes, and visually it adds some texture to the coloring which is atheistically pleasing. I am generally a size 7 and the 7 was perfect to wear with a medium thickness of socks for me. I plan to use these as I did my old ones - both on trail and casual around town. Great update Astral!
Great for Snow!
I bought these from a retailer several months ago. I absolutely love them. They are very comfortable, I am able to use my specialized insoles with them (which is always a concern for me) and they fit perfectly. I wear them to the ski hill regularly and they handle snow, slush, mud and ice incredibly well - both with traction and waterproofing. I've also been impressed with how warm they are. I wore them with a pair of mid-thickness socks in -5F weather and my feet weren't cold at all.

Everything I was looking for in a lightweight boot. These are perfect for both a day in the office or a hike down to the duck hunting blind on a frosty morning. They are designed with care and attention to detail, not to mention the top notch comfort!
Comfortable and grippy
Great shoe, good performance on the trail, breathable, and good looking. The rubber lower is waterproof as advertised but wax the hemp upper if you're looking for complete waterproofing. Easy to add as my new kicking around, GSD boot.
Lightweight wonders!
I LOVE these. The perfect hiking boot with a wide toe box which is necessary. PLUS they are the most lightweight but durable pair of boots I've ever worn, which is great for traveling. Can't wait for more adventures with these

has a very lightweight & minimal feel to the shoe but really good traction and kept my feet dry! I have a wider toe box and it was comfortable to wear for hours without feeling light my foot was being squished
Traction and compfortable
I've taken two 5 mile hikes, one being in the snow. I was impressed with the traction and appreciate the width in the toe area. The shoe is flexible to adapt to the rocky trails. Happy with the purchase
