Summit…. Check

We bought this pack as our “day pack” for a Mt Kilimanjaro trek, knowing that in “real life” we would really need ski packs. My 16 year old son wore the 32 and I wore the 25 for a seven day trek through five ecosystems and to Uhuru- the highest summit point. The functionality of the straps and pockets, the comfort and the durability of the pack are top notch! Can’t wait to experience the performance for skiing!

Hyd system not quite compatible

The hydration tube goes thru left shoulder strap (insulated sleeve) and it squashed when loaded and water does not pass. osprey Kamber 30 has enough room for the tube to avoid that issue. Nice to have it as i use it in winter too. Hopefully the next version has it fixed. Helmet pouch covers from top which prevents snow to enter into helmet and the material is snow proof - nice move. Great to have two mega size hip belt pockets and hope the next version do not get rid of them. Gear loop can be added by DIY so that is not a must have. Tool pocket’s zipper can go lower (at least one of them). Colour can be more visible and brighter than black or grey.

Nice pack

Good backcountry pack. Well organized. I’ve used a half dozen times uphilling at a local ski area. The helmet carrier works well - I do wish it had a small Velcro tab to keep the pocket closed when not in use. Although it requires some deft folding, climbing skins (BD Ascension) will fit into the generous side pockets. The M/L size fits well (6’). No problem using my Camelback with the insulated sleeve. Avalanche gear fits comfortably into the green highlighted pocket. I’ve not attempted to hike with skis attached to the pack, but my K2 Coomback 104’s fit into the compression straps and side pocket/straps. I’m excited to use it for both resort and backcountry outings.

Good pack for its intended purpose

I bought this as a multi-sport pack but it probably excels best as a ski-touring pack. I'm new to the rear-entry design but as I grow accustomed can see the advantages. The metal (aluminum?) waist buckle is superior to the traditional plastic, and the hip pockets are large but rather awkward to access at times. The pack is comfortable and would seem to hold a good amount of weight without complaint. The interior pockets are, again, specific to ski touring but can be adapted for general use. In summary, this pack appears durable and should last a few years of constant use if the zippers hold up. The water bladder pocket could be slightly enlarged as I employ the HydraPak Hydrasleeve 3L and it requires some effort to stuff it in there.

Great for hiking too

Been using this pack for my winter hiking day trips in the White Mountains of NH. The insulated shoulder pouch holds a 500ml soft flask perfectly, and keeps it from freezing. I wish the zipper was the other way on it, minor nitpick. The rear straps are perfect for attaching snowshoes. My Hillsounds can be secured in their storage pouch under the helmet carrier when the snowshoes are on my feet. The accessible back panel is perfect for 2 1. 5L smart water bottles and well as additional layers. Can be accessed no matter what I have strapped to the outside of the pack and my body heat keeps them thawed. Big pocket on the top fits goggles, facemark, puffy. Hipbelt pockets are huge and can fit all my snacks for the day. They are set a little far back, but zippers operate one handed. Melt buckle is easier to operate with gloves or mittens than a traditional plastic buckle. Really loving this pack so far.

Nice Tour Backpack

This pack is very nice for all of your touring needs. I Like the comfortable waist strap and the easy clasp. Also has a nice Fleece lined pocket for goggles and a back access zipper to keep your skins from freezing up. Overall, a great touring backpack that will be durable for years to come.

Quality we've come to expect from BD

Poor design, cheap buckles, very challenging to fit anything in it. The cross ski buckle is plastic and broke quickly, also, due to the back-only access it's very very challenging to pack effectively. I deeply regret purchasing this bag.
