A Different Kind of sock
You never know what you're missing until you find it and I found it @REI with the Wrightsock coolmesh II. These socks feel amazing. They are made with two layers of fabric. The outside layer is of a more textured fabric that gives traction inside the shoe. The inside layer touches your skin and is made of a smooth non textured and cool feeling fabric. These two fabrics slide against each other, but doesn't rub against your skin. You don't realize how much you've gotten used to the feel of socks rubbing the skin of your feet until the rubbing is gone. You feel something wonderfully different with each step. I would highly recommend these socks to anyone who's seeking more comfort from walking.I live in North Florida where it's often warm and humid. These socks perform well keeping my feet feeling cool and much less fatigue. I wear size12 and the socks fit true to size.
Skip the combo sock and buy your liners separately
I really wanted to like these socks. They were recommended by an REI employee and I love the idea of them. I did one test hike in them and wasn't feeling excited but went against my gut and took them for my day hike on a 2-night backpacking trip (I used REI liners under a new pair of Darn Tough hiking socks on the way in and an ancient pair of REI backpacking socks on the way out, both of which worked great). The Wrightsock kept bunching under my toes, and even though we only did 7 miles, I had a HUGE blister on my little toe. I'm sure they work for some people, but it wasn't worth the space saver in my pack.
Great for Hiking and Work, But Wear Quickly
I’ve used the WRIGHTSOCK Coolmesh II Crew Socks for both hiking and my job as a mailman, and they’ve been great for comfort and breathability. They keep my feet dry and provide excellent cushioning during long hours on my feet. However, after several washes and heavy use, I noticed some wear and tear, especially around the toes and heels. That’s why I gave them 4 stars instead of 5. Overall, they’re a solid choice for active use, but durability could be improved.
These socks are all Wright!!
I had these in the low cut and needed warmth for the winter. I just love them - the weight and thickness are perfect. I had to wear recovery slides after bunion surgery and they felt so good on my skin and didnt create bulk.
Total Bust!
Based on the product description the hope was to have a sock that provided cushion for extended hikes. When first worn, the sock did not fir well in the toe box because of the separation between the two layers. This was very uncomfortable. After one washing the sock shrunk at least one full size even after I had purchased one size up (XL) from my usual Large. In addition, the two layers separated even more. Worst purchase from REI.
Mixed bag
I have a love hate relationship with these Sox. They are the most comfortable, best breathing, and blister preventing Sox I have ever owned. They only last about a year before the heal wears out. Tried other brands and they were no Where near as good.
Happy Feet
Like the double thickness for comfort and keeps "hot spots" from arising as I'm a bit older and my feet have lost some of their natural fat padding. Highly recommend.
Socks that make a difference!
I am on my feet all day every day and these socks make a big difference. My feet stay dry and they are comfortable.
Low quality, holes after ~5 months of normal use.
Holes in outer layer after ~5 of very normal, arguably light, use. Poor quality. Much better options out there.
