Sizing Notes

For boots: Add one half size to your street shoe size. You should be able to slip one finger behind your heel when you are standing up with the boot unlaced and your toes touching the front. If the boot is too short, your toes will get smashed walking downhill. Too long and your heel will slide up and down and give you blisters.

Runs smaller than Nucleo High II GTX

I got these to replace my 2 year old Nucleo that ran a little small on me (my feet grew a little bit). I decided to go with these boots because the Nucleo didn’t go any larger. I went a size up from 47.5 to 48.5 expecting to have extra toe room for thicker socks. However that was not the case, while they’re slightly larger, they still felt snug without the extra toe room. Sizing aside, they’re comfortable right out of the box and they’re easier to get in and out of the boot with the extra range of motion in the design. Thanks to REIs easy return policy, I’ll be swapping these out for a 49 and I should be set with a great pair of hiking shoes.

comfortable and sturdy

I originally bought the women’s version of these but ended up having to size up more than I thought, pushing me into men’s. I contacted the company directly and they said the men and women’s boots were built on the same last so just choose my size. They fit great and are very comfortable out of box, and are both soft and sturdy. I would say they run a bit narrow so not good for wide feet. And they do have a softer sole than some backpacking boots so keep that in mind. The ankle support is good (but still a little softer than a backpacking boot). They ride more like sturdy sneakers with a bit more sole but you may feel rocky terrain when carrying a pack over several days. I like them for the hiking I do most often, which is afternoon walks up the hill and longer day hikes (6-7 miles). They are so easy to put on I find myself wearing them daily instead of sneakers. I’m normally a size 9.5/10 or 41.5 in boots and I sized up to a 42.5 in these.

Sizing is not consistent, too small

This was my second pair of ultra raptor II. I really love the first pair I got, they are comfortable and supportive. I liked them so much that I bought a second pair in chocolate brown in the same size. Unfortunately, their sizing is off and the boots were too small to be comfortable. I checked the box label, and the boot label for sizing...and they are the same size as my original boot which fit great. Sadly I had to return.

SIZE UP!

Just put these on after ordering online. I agree with other reviews here. I'm usually a size 10.5 to 11 US and got the 44.5 (11 size) which are now making my feet feel numb they are so tight. I think a 45 would be good but they don't come in this size. So I'm going to have to hope that a 45.5 US 12 size fits me. I've never in my life had a size 12 shoe so I doubt it.

Good boots at a good price

I have never ordered boots before online so I was hesitant, however I was surprised at the weight of the boots as they were very light. They were a good fit for me, and pretty rugged with a large lug sole. I have walked roughly 20 miles a week since my purchase and they have held up in all weathers. Im really pleased with my purchase especially as I got them at a great price.
