Fits CX5 so well!
Spent a lot of time looking into which box would fit, work with my needs and match the CX5 lines well. Most of what I read seemed to say that this box wouldn't work without having to adjust the trunk but I wanted to show that it fits amazingly and the trunk still opens up to max height. Granted the box overhangs on the windshield a bit (can't see it from inside) and is pushed pretty far back. I'm hoping this post might help someone who's been shopping around and looking to pull the trigger on this new Thule roof box. I chose this specific one because I wanted something that could fit a decent amount of luggage and miscellaneous items but was also short enough that it could stay on while driving in and out and of my garage without having to take it on and off for every use. My wife and I like to road trip and realize with a growing family that we would appreciate more storage space. After riding around with this for about a month now I really have no complaints. There is little to no wind-noise, mpg is negligible (has gone down about .6) and my moon roof opens up without touching it. It's easy to adjust the box, I love the way it looks and I have been able to fit everything l've needed inside. Finally wanna give a shoutout to REI who helped me out the box on and get things going. Super happy!
Gorgeous
Sleek perfect fit luxury aggressive look with enough space to travel and look good doing it
Make a Compact Crossover Roadtrip Ready!
I've been eyeing getting a roofbox for a year now, checking for discounts around the holidays. Nearly purchased the Motion XT Alpine last year around Black Friday but decided to wait. I'm glad I did! The Low Profile version of the Motion 3 XL seems to me like a perfect in-between of the tall version and the shorter Apline. The intent is to primarily use this on my wife's Hyundai Kona and my BMW 335i for when we road trip. Our family is expanding and we were already running out of room. Definitely recommend getting the Titan color, the pictures on the website don't do it justice. It's more like a gunmetal finish that coincidentally matches the Kona's trim very well. Also it should theoretically heat up marginally less in the sun since black absorbs infrared more. I wanted to put up some detailed photos of overhangs and liftgate interference, since I'm sure that's what others will be wondering about as well. The pictures show the roof box slid forward as far as possible with the current cross-bar positioning. I'm sure I could shift the rear cross-bar forward in order to shift the whole box more, minimizing interference, but it likely wouldn't eliminate it. Overall very happy with the build quality, paint finish, and hinges. Why get a bigger car for more space when it's only utilized 1% of the year?!
What a match!!!!
I have a new 2024 Lexus GX550. I found the Motion 3 XL Low Titan. It was the best match for my needs and looks great. I had I color matched to the car. Now I can use all three rows of seats and take plenty of luggage with us. Love it!!!
Aerodynamics has that sexy look.
Just recently made this purchase for our Tahoe trip. The space inside loaded everything we needed for a family of 5. Offered our Highlander with more leg room and less cramped. At first I was skeptical thinking that it might look odd or too bulky. Which it did not. As a matter of fact it complemented and looks good on our family car. Note, we heard no noise whatsoever nor vibration. The handling while driving was smooth as before, no drag. Honestly, this was very easy to attached by myself. However, I'd recommend having someone else help, makes for a quicker install. Very good purchase definitely. Not to mention my entire family is happy and we'll have more excuses for rode trips. Thanks to entire Thule teams.
Streamlined Thule Cargo Box
I purchased an Subaru Outback earlier this year and wanted more room when we are traveling with snow skis and our dog. We decided on the Thule XL cargo Box which is also more streamlined than everything else on the market. We installed the cross bars and box ourselves. We haven’t tracked with it yet but the good news is the car fits in the garage with the box attached. The box opens from both sides which should be easier to access given my husband and I are both on the shorter side. My last box that I have given to my son opens from the rear and harder to get to. Unsure how the box will affect my gas mileage but willing to sacrifice for the extra room plus the security of our snow skis.
Audi A7, Wingbar Evo and Motion 3 XL Low
I bought this system Bars, Pads and Cargo Box) last month to go on my Audi A7. The low profile of the carrier bars and the box fits the aesthetics of the car; very sleek. Installation of the pads and carrier bars was easy and straightforward. The box itself sits nicely on the carrier bars and is secured easily with the clamps. I have been driving around with the box mounted for several weeks now with Zero issues. The real test will be a long trip with cargo inside the box at the end of July.
Good box, fits our 2024 Sienna XSE
We got the Motion XL Low. Nice looking box, got compliments. The attachment sliders look kind of flimsy but I'm sure the engineers at Thule thought about it. Took it on a road trip involving 130km/h speeds and no rattling or issues. Puts our clearance at 82-83 inches so we still fit garages under 7ft. Can be a bit sticky to open but I suppose you want a good seal. Came up with my own storage method.
The BEST rooftop storage on the market!
Owned right after its release in April of 2024 and am enjoying every moment of it! With its redesign, you get better gas mileage, a quieter ride and a more sleek appealing storage opportunity on the roof of your vehicle. So happy with my Thule Motion 3 XL Low in Titan gray.
Useless in the cold
Got to the mountain unlocked box, went skiing. Came back to car and neither of the locks would open, likely due to cold weather. It was 31 degrees. Could not open either side of box, tried many times, as did my two buddies. Ended up having to shove all the skis inside the car which was the worst as I had full car and no room. How can Thule be in the business of ski boxes for so long not know how to make a lock that can open in winter conditions.?! Total joke, I want my money back. And by the way, you have to lock this box, key will not come out if the box is open, so key is mandatory, another terrible design decision.
