Caution: Size up, way up.

Seem like great gloves hence some stars, but the size chart is misleading. Most of the time I wear L or XL gloves, so when the size chart put me at a M I was suspicious. They were definitely far too tight which is not good for cold weather. I could not close my fist or straighten my fingers out. I wore them a lot last winter thinking the leather would stretch out/break in from use and loosen up. They did not. If I find these on sale again I’ll buy, but I would go with an XL. My hand length is 7.5” which would put me in the S category according to the size chart. I don’t have rotund fingers either.

Incredible gloves, check liner for defects.

These gloves are incredibly warm, comfy, and waterproof! The gloves need a day or two of wear to break-in to gain dexterity back, my only complaint is that one of the liners came from factory with a hole in it, but I covered it with some tenacious tape. (The waterproof membrane was untouched luckily) The photos show that there was no damage to the outside of the glove where the hole would be.

Superb Snow Gloves

I have searched high and low for gloves that withstand NW Minnesota winters, and I have found them with the Black Diamond Guide Gloves. I was a little skeptical with the higher price point, but they are sure worth every penny! The lining of the gloves are 50% wool and they do not feel scratchy by any means. NW Minnesota winters are often below zeros for days on end with a constant wind that is blowing. Never once, when snowmobiling, walking the dog or riding my fat tire bike have my hands got cold. They are quite versatile for lots of different activities. I would highly recommend these gloves, as they are the best gloves I have ever owned.

Outstanding gloves, very warm while still allowing for needed dexterity. Perhaps the best gloves I’ve ever owned.

BD Guide Gloves

I am very impressed with the overall quality and construction of these gloves. Specifically, the leather palms and hand portion as well as the seams are very high quality. The inner liners are removable, well insulated, and Gore-Tex lined. As a Ski Patroller, I am on-snow in all conditions and these gloves have worked really well in terms of warmth and dexterity. One point for improvement is to add wrist lanyards to the gloves. I frequently have to remove the gloves e.g. to put on protective latex gloves when working with an injured person and not having to worry about dropping them would be a great improvement.

Used these for hiking in the mountains

Fantastic gloves. Extremely warm, durable, water resistant. I used these when hiking Little Haystack Mountain via the Falling Waters trail. It’s part of the Franconia Ridge Loop in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. It’s a pretty serious hike. Conditions can be really harsh at times, very high winds, very cold, lots of snow and ice. These gloves were used on the way down when I was done using the ice axe so much. On the way up I used the Black Diamond Punisher gloves. (I’ll speak on those in a separate review). Anyways, I highly recommend these gloves for staying warm and dry as long as you aren’t doing things where you require lots of very fine dexterity. They are a little bulky.

Great Gloves, 3rd Pair

I’ve had the guide gloves 3 different times over the course of the last 17 years. Always satisfied w the quality, waterproofing and warmth. I find that my hands do get cold (skiing) when temps drop below 20° though. They are rated for colder temps. When this happens I prefer mittens and have a pair of BD ones that do the trick. I’ve found that a pair will last a couple of ski seasons of 45 - 60+ days. I’ve applied the nix wax (always included) usually late in the first season or early in the second. I’ve noticed a couple of “build” changes over the years, for the better. Also, of note: even though the sizing chart recommends I get the medium, I’ve found I need a large. The medium is snug. I’ll sometimes also use a liner, which helps on colder days and the large facilitates that. Good solid gloves that I keep coming back to. Have tried a few different brands and find myself gravitating back to these. Good, well made and does the job.

Spot on

These have been my go to ski gloves for 20+ years, and this recent purchase did not disappoint. The quality and warmth have stayed consistent with the previous versions. I find the "operating range" of temps a bit generous, but I do tend to run a bit cold in my hands and switch to the 3 finger version when the temps are close to zero. I did find the fit a bit smaller than I recalled and perhaps should have gone with the XXL, but that may change once I wear them in a bit. I do find that the outer far outlasts the inner and it would be great to have replacement liners available. . .
