These are very warm
I was getting back into snowboarding and I have very poor circulation and have never been able to find something to keep my hands warm on the more money friendly side. I read a ton of reviews on many different sites on these and hestra mitts. After hours I decided to splurge on these. Yesterday I was on the hill and they were incredibly warm and were exactly what I needed. Would highly recommend if you always have cold hands and need something that keeps you warm.
Haven’t worn anything else since
I used to think having miserably cold fingers was just part of skiing — I didn’t know how sweet life could be until I slipped on these bad boys. I used them on my coldest resort day this season (5 degrees) and my digits stayed toasty. They’re easy to slip on and off, comfortable for my hands (I have long fingers for the women’s gloves), they’re so warm, and they have a nice soft spot by the thumb to wipe the snot off your nose when you’re done shredding. I use my Guide gloves for more involved backcountry things, but for skiing in the resort, these are the bomb diggity. I purchased a S and I have found them to be sized the same as other BD men’s gloves. I usually wear a M women’s.
Warm mittens, but at a price
Bottom line mittens were good. They are expensive. However, I would buy them again. I like to ski and have raynaud's syndrome (cold hands). These mittens were expensive, cost as much as a coat, and I had high hopes that they would allow me to ski with warm hands. On days in the 20's I have to use the little heat packs inside my mittens, hence to four stars, that and the price.
Not as warm as expected
I got these mitts to be my bomber toasty go-to gloves for the season but even in fairly modest 10-15 degrees while actively skiing I found my hands getting cold. I’m going to pair these with liners to try and bulk the warmth but they are not the stand alone fireplace that many commenters raved about. I’m generally someone whose hands run cold to begin with, so if that’s you, maybe consider a different mitt or getting liners as well. They also seem to run a touch small. I used the sizing guide and chose a large, as I was on the fringe with XL. I would have gotten an XL had I did it again.
Mercury Mittens
Amazing! I just wore them on a hike in -16 degree weather (New Hampshire) and I would have to take my hands out every so often to let my hands cool off. These are quality mittens and are very well built! Worth the money.
These mittens ROCK
My wife and I both bought a pair to ski the season in Colorado. The comfort, construction, performance of these mittens is excellent. We could not be happier!
First Gen Mercury Mitt A+++
I bought a pair of mercury mitts 21 years ago when I was 17 and have forever loved them!! I still wear them daily even tho the palm seams are coming out and they also have several small cuts. Despite the wear and tear my hands still stay cozy and dry through the rigorous daily -30C adventures. They do need to be replaced but I’m very disappointed to see that BD got rid of the trigger finger liner. Perhaps my old liners will still work in them?? If my mitts could talk, they would have some epic stories to tell from the endless variety of adventures they have been on.
Awesome mitts!
These mitts are great! Super warm and comfortable, I love the extended wrist as well, keeps me very warm
Mercury Mitts - Men's
The Mercury Mitts are excellent protection fomr the cold winds and wet conditions I face at The Georgain Peacks Club Thornbury, Ontario. As a ski patroller at the South end of Georgian Bay; the weather can be cold and windy. A minor issue was the first time I used the Mercury Mittens I received some small cuts in between my fingers for the ploy fill insulation. Wearing the mittens after the initial time there were not other difficulties. Therefore, overall the Mercury Mitt are excellent mittens that I highly recommend buying and using. Norm Brown
We love these but the colour is not like the picture.
Everyone at work wears these mitts and loves them in the coldest of the cold Canadian winter days. I've purchased more than 20 pairs over the last year for folks on our crew. However, this curry colour, is awesome on this page, when you get them, they aren't rich orangish brown, they are far more of a tan colour. Like butterscotch pudding. Hoping for much more beautiful colours next go around. The new mercury mitt compared to the old mitt, they fit slightly larger it seems, they feel great and nice and we do not miss the wrist strap so far.
