Because there are only 2 pockets and no extraneous zippers or need for additional taped seams + HH uses a light nylon outer layer, this jacket is really light and minimalist compared to my past 3L jackets (replacing a very very old Arc'teryx β sl and a Large Burton AK). If you are looking for something that packs small and can keep you dry for a couple hours in one of these cyclone bomb rainstorms, this is going to do the job. Around town, on the trail or skiing up/down; this jacket looks clean and keeps me dry (always impressed when a product does what it was designed to do). @ 5'8, 157lbs, 40-33-37 a Men's Med. fit is athletic with barely enough room for a mid-weight base and a heavy-weight 2nd with stuff in the chest pockets...it's snug on me. Breathability & waterproofing is absolutely awesome; HH Pro + Lifa tech actually works! I was looking for 3 things: waterproofness, light/packable, durable: it's proven to be decent at blocking water and it packs down better than most 3L jackets. If it lasts more than a decade, I'll add the 5th star ;)
This is a decent 3L minimalist rain jacket. The fabric feels thin and I worry it may not last. The fit is slim and athletic with just a bit of room for a light base and mid layer. I've been in light rain for ~1hr and the DWR held up and hasn't "wetted" through; HH's waterproof/breathable fabric seems to hold up to their end of the bargain, but time will tell...I'll keep you posted!
