I have many osprey products from previous generations and still love them. But the recent upgrade of day pack system was incredibly frustrating. For context I got a new pack, new osprey hydration bladder and bite valve cover. 1. The clip For hydration pack is flimsy and not compatible with non-osprey bladders for 0-utility from change 2. They changed the hydration pack tube size so none of the previous accessories like magnets an bite valve covers are compatible and had to buy new ones for 7$ for each minor component. 3. After buying everything new (all within osprey ecosystem) the bite valve covers barely fits through the hole to pull the hose - this is like insanely frustrating!
Shoulder to hip belt distance seems a little undersized. I'm an average size woman with a normal torso length, yet the hip belt barely rests on my hips, which decreases its ability to help carry the load. I have to keep the shoulder straps a little looser than normal so that the belt will rest on my hips. I think the large would be too long for me, but I haven't tried it on. Other than that, the backpack itself is nice. It's pretty slim. I would have preferred it be a little roomier, but at least it fits my large laptop and power cord. It could use another large compartment. It's a good day use backpack.
I am on my second season using this backpack for hiking and I’ve been impressed with it every time I’m on the trail. I feel like they thought of everything when designing it and it makes everything so accessible and convenient while walking. I love all the little things like the waist pockets, the trekking pole holders, and the weight distribution is perfect. I really love this pack and will use it until he seams bust.
What a refreshing thing it is to find a decent backpack that is not only designed to fit plus size women, but is also comfortable and practical. The adjustments made to the fit of this bag are specifically designed with the way weight is held on women’s bodies, and make wearing it more comfortable than any other backpack I’ve ever tried. For context, I use a backpack every day for work, and I have struggled with numbness in my arms and comfort issues consistently in every other bag I’ve tried. I’m also disabled, and need proper weight distribution due to using a mobility aid, and this has been such an easy bag to set up and use so far.
i wanted to love this backpack...but i didn't. It is well made but, for a 22L pack, it is far too heavy and over-engineered. i would have loved it if it had a more flexible back and it was lighter...also not keen on zipped pouches on waist belt, though i know that's pretty standard these days. I ordered the red and it wasn't as nice as it looked in pictures. So, alas, am returning it and sticking with my old osprey. i have other osprey luggage/packs but their day packs just don't work for me personally.
I was looking for a 20-22L pack for day walks on the Portuguese coastal Camino walk ( I will have my luggage transferred to each hotel on the leg of the trip). I wanted the pack to be comfortable and practical for my 2.5 liter water bladder and snacks and weather gear. The 22 Tempest is all of this and more. I hardly notice it on my back and the many adjustments distribute the weight perfectly. The side belt pockets are a bit hard to reach for this 67 year old women but not impossible. I am Very satisfied with this purchase and the REI rep in Bedford NH was outstanding in helping me
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The color is perfection! I don't like the new location for the bladder tube as much as previous models but it's still functional.
This pack fits me perfectly. I'm short (5'2"), and this pack is made for women--it can be adjusted for trunk length. It has a hip belt, a chest strap, and straps above the shoulders to move the top of the pack forward or back. I could adjust it all to make it sit just right on my hips, with little load on my shoulders. I'm very happy I bought it. It's slightly heavier than the other pack I was considering, but the adjustability makes it worth it. The only things I would change would be making a place for a water bottle to be accessible without unstrapping the pack and taking one arm out. I'm going to look for some simple bottle holder to remedy that. Similarly, I'd love a pocket that would keep my phone accessible. There are 2 pockets on the hip belt, but they are too small for my overly large phone. So I will put that in my pocket.
I went in looking for a pack that I could put my padded camera case into and carry my camera and a few other items on a trip to Central America. This pack is perfect in size and weight. I can fit everything I want and not have to worry every time I have to go through some type of security check about losing something. I tried it on with everything in it and it is so comfortable. I would definitely recommend this pack.
This pack has the features I want and for its liter capacity, has the largest main compartment. But why oh why is it only one size? The waist straps are HUGE and you cant adjust them. Dang it Osprey.
