Perfect in-between jacket

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This jacket has Omni-tech in the lining, which is a key feature for this lighter-weight jacket. I was looking for a jacket for cooler Spring and Fall days where a 'winter' coat is too heavy, but a windbreaker is too light. This jacket is the perfect in-between jacket for those days. I also love the fact that you can cinch the waist for a more flattering look, as well as the longer length in the back. The side pockets are deep enough to hold my cell phone, but if I could make one addition to this jacket it would be to have a cell phone pocket up near the chest, either inside or outside as other Columbia coat styles have. The Velcro tabs along the zipper and on the sleeve cuffs are very strong too which make for a secure fit. The jacket material feels very durable as well. I haven't worn it in the rain, but I'm sure it will pass that test perfectly as well. The jacket is true to size and being a woman with a pear-shape body, the bottom portion of the coat fits perfectly - not snug, not baggy. Overall, this is just the perfect jacket for cooler weather temps.

Change the drawstring at the waist!!!!

****UPDATE**** I have had my jacket for a month and wear it daily. I still love the jacket style and material, but I do have one complaint to report. The elastic drawstring is constantly catching on the super strong Velcro, and it has put pulls and snags all over the drawstring. I have even made the drawstring shorter to try to prevent it from attaching to the Velcro, but it still manages to connect when I take the jacket off. The drawstring now looks ratty. Very disappointing. I'm not sure what the fix would be other than a different type of drawstring that wouldn't snag. It really makes my beautiful coat look cheap with the drawstring all covered in fuzzy pulls! I originally gave this coat a 5-star review, but the drawstring issue is maddening.

Disappointed.

Not worth the money. While this jacket looks good, it has Velcro on the front placket and the hook side of it shreds the sleeves, my sweaters and scarves. There’s Velcro on the sleeves as well. If the hook side bushes my hand, it actually hurts. This is cheap out option instead of a sleeve cuff, snaps or buttons on the front placket. If the placket was less wide, it wouldn’t need Velcro. Second complaint, the hood is huge and isn’t detachable. I rarely need a hood so it would be nice to take it off. I like the fit and style and it’s warm. I’m disappointment because I have been a fan of Columbia clothes and jackets for years.

Two-way zipper, long enough sleeves, light weight

Lightweight and not bulky, glides over clothing. Pretty seams/is not that boxy. Interior waist cinch. Long enough sleeves for someone 5'9". Covers bum for warmth. I should've bought an XL as a size 18 pants. I bought the XXL. But the shoulders are too wide and frumpy. It will function to keep me warm, but I would recommend ordering your regular size. The outer fabric is very nice. It's water-resistent from being tightly woven I think, it's durable feeling but still flexible and this coat doesn't make a swooshing sound when you move. I would prefer that it didn't have OMNI heat because I find that the reflective dots flake off in the wash, and they don't breathe and make my torso damp. I would prefer that the torso be lined with the same fabric that lines the sleeves. This coat has a two-way zipper, and velcro up the front placket. Two zipper hand pockets. Hand pockets are ergonomic, and roomy enough. This coat is basic in all the best ways.

Good light weight jacket

This jacket is light weight and warm. Removing a star for the horrible velcro closures that catch on everything when not closed. The coat could use more pockets, like a secret pocket.

Best of both worlds

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’m in surgical menopause & am constantly trying to strike the right balance between being too hot or too cold. This jacket is absolutely perfect. It’s lightweight enough to e breathable but at the same time the Omni-tech heating feature kept me warm during a hike. Love that it’s waterproof as well (walked in rain & I was completely dry). The hood is also great - I can wear a winter hat underneath it & it’s not too loose. Plus the moonbeam color is my favorite color. 10/10 would recommend.

Good basic coat

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Nice coat, I like that it’s warm and seems wind resistant, I also really like the navy shade. Definitely not enough pockets, just the two side pockets, I really need a couple more! Or an inside pocket, at the least. The Velcro is super strong and shuts before I zip up the coat, I haven’t had any clothing snags yet, but as another review suggested, I think it’s possible, so I’m careful when putting this coat on and may not wear a nice sweater underneath, just in case.

Get rid of the velcro

Average only because of the Velcro along the storm flap. It makes opening the jacket difficult because as soon as you pull on the velcro open it snaps right back into place. Constant fight to get whole front storm flap open. Then, scarfs and hair get caught in it. Also, the additional velcro on the sleeve cuffs. Cheap. Velcro wears out and gets ratty looking within months. This would be an outstanding jacket if it were not for the nasty hook and loop all over it.

Great jacket wish drawstring was shorter

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love everything about this jacket - I wanted an insulated rain coat and this fit the bill - the only problem is the drawstring waist - loose it is long and if you gather it even longer. I have to tie it at my waist so it doesn’t dangle and constantly catch on the Velcro that closes over the zipper. The Velcro is mildly annoying - I have another of there jackets that has snaps - this I prefer but it’s not a deal breaker. Love the color!
