Lasted a Thru Hike - Durable and Lightweight
I wore this sun hoodie for the entire PCT (5 months) and it still has life left in it. Most people had holes in their sun hoodie mid way through the trail and this one only has some light rubbing and discoloration. It dries very quickly and the zipper is great for both cooling off as well as keeping the hood on even in heavy winds. Highly recommend this product and am ready to buy my second one. I am sad to hear the thumb holes are gone. I also wish the womens version had the pocket at the chest like the mens. However, with how lightweight and stretchy the fabric is anyways, i do not tend to use the pocket. Could do without it entirely.
Solid layer
Works as a great base layer over a top too

Favorite sun hoody
I bought this sun hoody this summer and have worn it many times to keep the sun off my skin, but also stay nice and cool in the hot summer. The half zip on the front allows great airflow. I like the light grey color. This is an item I always bring into the backcountry with me if I’m worried about UV exposure in alpine areas above the tree line. It also keeps bugs off my arms, torso, neck. Highly recommend!!

Fit for purpose but could use design improvements
Very good sun protection. Not giving 5 stars because I wish the arms had thumb holes instead of the elastic, and I think the pocket orientation is weird in a way that doesn’t seem functional for anyone. As a field ecologist, I use this when I’m working in wetlands where I can’t wear sunscreen, and I’ve found it to be a very good lightweight layer and quick dry, so very functional for that environment.
Sunrise is NOT orange color
I have a small Astroman in navy and wanted something brighter and a little more roomy. So I got Sunrise as it’s a bright safety color and I thought it was orange. It is NOT orange - it’s definitely a pinkish coral color. While bright - it’s not the same as what is depicted in the photo. Fit and feel is as expected.
Lovely sun hoodie, but sheer
I wanted to love this sun hoodie- but it's sheer. I ordered the light pink one. If I wear something under it, I'm afraid it will be too hot.
Lightweight and effective: highly recommend
I purchased this hoodie for sun protection on a recent 9-day backpacking trip. I bought the light grey colour because I thought it could double as bug protection, since the mosquitoes were horrendous. I really liked how feather-light it was, it dried fast and the hood was great when the bugs were fierce. Furthermore, all the bug/blood/sweat stains cleaned up nicely after the trip and it looks good as new! As for durability and wind-proofness, I will bring it on my next two canoe trips this July and report back :)
Excellent when paired with a merino wool base layer
My wife used this over a merino wool base layer. This was light and breathable. It kept her warm when merino wool alone was not enough by itself.

Color options too dark
I have the old version. The new version (this one) has better sun protection so I thought I’d try it. It’s way too dark. I will broil in this under bright sun. It also doesn’t have thumb holes. Overall, a step backwards. It still has the nice zipper. It still nicely protects the neck and décolletage area when zipped unlike many sun hoodies that leave this area exposed to sun. It’s still super light weight and non-clingy
Hate the hip zipper!
Next to loving to backpack I love gear that works for me in the field. I love everything about this hoodie BUT the zipper on the hip!! It caused a sore there under the hip belt. So my question is does OR make a 30 UPF hoodie that does not have it?
