I purchased this item because of the military first responder discount. I normally purchase Patagonia products. The cuffs could be a little tighter around the wrist and the hood needs to have adjustment. The 800 fill down has a lot of lift and seems to be getting loftier every day after unpacking. This is a warm jacket and the only color I would buy. I do not like the bright colors. Product seems durable for what it is. Would not handle brush very well imo. Water resistance and wind proofing would be a great add. I was going to return the item
I was a bit disappointed to see the feathers poking out in so many spots . Im thinking for the price I would recieve a pristine new jacket , the feather made it seem like it was worn for a year or something. At any rate im wondering what my options are . ???
So this jacket is really lightweight and does not do well in temperature of lower 40s. The filling, I would expect to start coming out after year or more of use. I have worn this jacket for a few days in the DC metro area weather, and it does not keep me warm and the filling has started coming out already. The stitching is also coming lose in some area. For the price of the jacket, the return on value is very disappointing.... I am fan of cotopaxi, but this jacket just did not make the quality bar. Upside, the colors are great.
We are so sorry that we have missed the mark here for you! Thank you for sharing these photos as well :) We take this feedback to heart and will always do so, thank you! I do want to mention though that with all down products there will be some 'leakage' that happens before the down settles down and becomes better situated. The photos do not show extreme down leakage and this will not hurt the integrity of your item one bit. It would take 20+ years of down leakage like this to cause any compromise of warmth and such. You're amazing and thank you for your time here!
This jacket looks nice and is very lightweight but in my brief experience with it (bought it last year and did three climbs and some casual winter sport usage) the shell material is very thin and it rips from any pinch. Don't try to do any work in it. The customer service was not good, once ripped it is hard to repair and they provide very little help and are slow. Still waiting for the special transparent tape they promised to send. In terms of warmth I'd say it is average. It is not bad for such a light jacket and the hood is comfortable, but don't consider it a substitute for a really warm winter jacket.
I got the Fuego hooded down jacket in brown and orange. I bought it for winter travel—I wanted something warm enough for European winters but light enough that it won’t be annoying to pack away. It fits great and looks great, and it is indeed light and warm. But I wore it for just the second time yesterday, and the stuffing is coming out in at least three places. I didn’t do anything that you’d think would test a coat: I drove to the airport, carried a backpack to my gate, boarded the plane, drove a rental to a friend’s place. It’s really disappointing because otherwise I really like this coat.
A lot of the down fill fell off. This was my first Cotopaxi and I will not be purchasing it again. Not a good quality jacket and bad customer service.
Very pleased
I already have a green Cotopaxi Hooded Fuego Jacket. . . and I LOVE IT SO MUCH that I had to get another color. This thing keeps you nice and warm in cold weather. It's super comfortable. And I gotta say, it's the best looking down jacket on the market! Nice job, Cotopaxi!
Just bought this today and tested it on a long walk with the dog. It was super light and kept me quite warm for the whole jaunt. It's snowy and just under 30 degrees right now. My ONLY complaint is that I'd love an internal or external breast pocket. Very much a personal preference, but I'm very accustomed to stashing my wallet and a small flashlight there. Not sure if designers thought it would get in the way of backpack straps as a hiking jacket. But a small breast pocket would make this jacket a no brainer as my every day outerwear hiking AND tooling around town. Also, I'm on the cusp of L /XL and the XL fits great. So runs just a tad small.
It says the exact same color on the tag that it’s named on the jacket I had selected, but the color is way off.
