Comfort: 5/5 Looks/color: 5/5 Warmth: 5/5 - wore it in 35 degree F weather and did not feel cold. Wore it in light rain and did not get wet. Did not feel cold when it was windy either. Breathability: 4/5 Hood 2/5: comfortable but does not move when you turn your head so you need to turn your whole body to be able to look to the sides. Worst part: Shedding, see pictures. Thinking about returning it. Size: runs large. I sized down to Medium which fits perfectly (I'm 5"11 and 180 lbs)
Im 5”8, 165 lbs with a muscular build and I got a small, and it fits perfectly. The jacket is warm, but I’m testing at the end of winter so I haven’t tested at low temperatures. The fabric is very soft, which makes it VERY comfortable, but feels vulnerable to ripping. I’d wear a windbreaker over this if I were doing anything that could damage it. Overall, I’m very happy with this jacket. My only complaint is that the pocket openings are *just* *too* *small*. You can’t put your hands in them without the pocket pushing your sleeves up, so you need to wriggle the sleeves in if you want a real seal from the cold. Besides that, I am very satisfied.
Love the look, how light weight it is and can be folded to be compact to store if needed. Very happy with this purchase
I love my fuego original, not sure that I like the changes made to the fitting. The waist runs large and looks baggy, the cinch cords come loose with any pull on the waist, the pockets feel smaller fitting my hand into them, and I have seen more little down floating than I remember with previous jackets, and I feel that the color is more muted when I come to Cotopaxi for vibrant apparel. Jacket is still warm, I prefer a sweater underneath. Hood is deep which should fit a helmet or hat in winter, works well with keeping wind out of my sweater hood. Overall I would rate it okay. Purchase on sale.
Build quality is okay and the jacket is stylish. It runs a bit big and the one I received has a right-side zip pocket that is slightly smaller than the left and it is difficult to get my hand in the pocket. Annoying. I am 6’1” and 190 lbs and have a similar Marmot down jacket that has a slightly better fit across the chest and waist. The Fuego waist cinches do not work at all. After tightening they just immediately release. Like what?? The jacket is also not very warm for being 800 fill. The Marmot jacket is 700 and is warmer. Overall I’m a bit disappointed in the overall build quality control, fit, and lack of warmth for a down jacket at this rating and price point.
love it, looks great. Got compliments the first day I wore it. fits perfectly, just how i like it. waterproof, so far the rain just beads up and shakes off. I love the zippers and the rubber covered strings tied around them. nice touch. Very warm, sustainably sourced quality down. only thing I would add is some kind of vent for breathability. Maybe some pit zips or a few embroidered eyelet holes in the pit area possibly. Just for a little bit of circulation of the air inside. That would make it 100% perfect. Not a huge deal though. I still love it. more of those zipper strings coulgn be a bad thing. I Wish I could afford to get more in all the other colors. They all look great. I highly recommend these jackets for anyone in winter conditions. 6’0” 270 lbs. XXL excellent fit, if that helps anyone. enjoy
This is my second Cotopaxi Fuego, which I bought because I wear my first one literally every day in the winter and I wanted to have another color to switch things up. My first jacket I have owned for 6 years and it shows barely any signs of wear. It packs down extremely small, and gives so so much warmth for fairly minimal weight. It occasionally needs a tumble dry with some tennis balls to fluff up the down when I pack it down. I love the colors. The hood gives good all around protection, only opportunity for improvement would be if the could sinch down to give even more protection. Absolutely love this jacket, the new one is just as nice as my old. Highly highly recommend
I am very disappointed this product. I bought Fuego Hooded Down Jacket this spring as REI seasonal sale event. I was looking for lightweight down jacket and selected this product because of 800 fills down specs. The product features are attractive; jacket style looks good and actually fit vey well as its size. However, IT IS NOT WARM down jacket at all to windy winter conditions even around 30F degree (just below freezing temperature). Recently I bought another hooded down jacket with only $30 buck at local Costco store, It is warmer than this one. I do not recommend this product. for winter.
I bought one a couple years ago and love it but when I saw they released an all black version, I wanted that one. The sizing is bigger but not in a bad way. I think sizing is more true now, which puts me back into an XL. I’d recommend this jacket for sure. It’s wicked good
Owned a one size-larger Fuego Hooded jacket before the updated fit (Fuego 2. 0). Bought the new updated fit for my actual size and the new fit is roomier, more comfortable down jacket. I love the draw strings on the bottom. I appreciate the zipper on the pockets however the pocket openings are narrow at the zipper. Its hard to get your hands into your pockets. I wish there was some control on the hood to tighten or loosen the hood. Does not seem as warm as the previous Fuego which is a bummer considering the cost. If you're going to call something Fuego, it better be hot.
