[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Awesome jacket ... wish it would be a bit more water resistant. Does keeps you warm and easy to wear/fit. Plenty of pockets, and roomy for layers.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Used only 7 days so far but overall a great jacket. Doesn't feel rugged like the Steeptech jacket it was replacing. I was worried about how waterproof it was but have really put it to the test with the early skiing in the VT being sooo wet this year. The coat seems to soak the water up and get heavy but it doesnt soak through at all. The main reason I bought this coat was because its one of the only ones with a removable hood as I don't like permanent hoods. The zippers on the pockets are weird they catch allot I had my car keys stuck in my pocket for a while Not Good at the end of a ski day.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Just came back from snowboarding trip to Keystone, Colorado. Temps on the mountain -5-15F. Wearing thermal long sleeve underneath and never felt cold. Very warm, but lightweight, jacket. Never felt restricted as far as motion, so worked well for boarding. Would recommend to anyone.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The only purpose for purchasing this jacket is to wear skiing. I am 5'11", 190lbs, 32" waist, 44 inch chest. I normally wear a large in TNF jackets, but have noticed that TNF must have changed how their jackets fit. Larges are now way to big for me. I ordered a medium in this jacket and it fits perfect with room for layering. I the jacket is well made, comfortable and looks sharp. As for durability, I won't know that until the end of ski season. But I have never had a TNF product fail me after years of abuse and wear. My entire ski kit is by TNF. Very happy with this purchase.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Took the jacket out to the back bowls in Vail CO. Great jacket, but leave the hood at home. It will detach on you and North Face customer service will say you need to purchase another jacket entirely.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Absolutely not waterproof. I bought this for my boyfriend as a ski jacket and within an hour of skiing while it was snowing the jacket was soaked. It also took forever to dry out.
Bought this matching set for my husband to wear in Colorado and it was perfect. He kept them warm and dry and it looked great!
Great jacket! Fits great on the body and arms, 6'3" 215# in an XL. The zippers are smooth and seem to be well done to bring waterproofing. Pockets are well placed , only downer is the left sleeve pocket is smaller than on my last TNF coat so a phone doesn't fit. This was a replacement for a 20 year old TNF coat, so I was apprehensive of switching because the old one was reliable and great - only added two zippers in 20yrs otherwise solid. Upgraded because waterproofing was done (could've sprayed I know) and a shoulder was starting to show significant wear. This new one is significantly lighter which made me concerned with the warmth. To my total surprise technology over the last 20yrs has improved and lighter can still be warm.

Stylish and highly durable, this jacket is a must-have for skiing or snowboarding adventures.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this jacket as a long-time snowboarder making a first attempt at learning to ski. That means I tested weatherproofing and durability with falling a lot and diving into moguls headfirst in near whiteout conditions during a freakishly cold winter storm. Backing up- this jacket looks and fits fantastic. The color is deep and rich and I felt more awesome in it than I have I right to feel. The lengths all over were great for me in Large- me being athletic 6'3" and 215lbs. It its not a bulky jacket. it is comfortably trim through the torso and just right at the shoulders and arm length. The collar is tall but oh so very warm. It folds down easily. The detachable hood is easy as a snap and adjusts well enough. I fumbled sometimes with warmer gloves but got the job done. It may depend on helmet style, but the hood did blow back more often than I would have liked. Hey, this is a warm jacket. Seriously. It is so much warmer than you think it would be while remaining breathable and not wetting out. At recent use, days began at a frigid -20F. I was more than warm waiting on first lift with only a light base layer beneath. On first outing I had a fleece vest in the mix but it was quickly shed. Venting works well. Sweat was only an issue at my wrists, where the cuff, insulation, and over mysleeve extra warm gloves overlapped. Even then, it dried and aired out well. I went from expert to inert by switching to skis. I fell a lot that first morning. Then I became extra confident and flew down trails above my skill level, but you know, progression and stuff. Snow did not come in the powder skirt. Snow did not come in my hood or color. Snow did not find its way up my sleeves. I gave it every chance to find a way in, but this jacket was sealed. For après ski wandering around town while everyone else was smart enough to stay inside during a blizzard I wasn't just warm- I was cozy. Longterm durability and weatherproofing remains to be seen but I fell in love on the first date.
