[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was looking for a spring/fall jacket for Michigan – one that would work in 40-65 degree weather, with a hood and be able to withstand blustery winds that make it feel 5- -10 degrees colder, as well as rain showers that can suddenly arise when you’re out on a walk away from your house or car. So, I ended up buying five jackets while on sale – Hydroforce Full Zip Hoodie, Hikebound II Insulated Jacket, Arctic Peak Full Zip Fleece, Ascender II Hooded Softshell Jacket, and Glennaker II Sherpa Lined Jacket - to see which one would work for me. Unfortunately, none of them did. I’ve left reviews under each of them. Hikebound II Insulated Jacket – A very nice winter coat. But way too warm for my use. As I already have a winter coat that I really like (Columbia Oak Harbor), this one went back.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought this jacket about a year ago and still quite happy with my purchase. I purchased the small and as a 5' 6" guy it goes down to my upper thighs. Nice and warm. A good middle between a lightweight and a heavyweight jacket. Perfect for being out in the rain, wind, or light snow. The only problem is the right side Velcro can rub on the sleeve if you're wearing the jacket unzipped. Within a couple months I was noticing the inner side of my right sleeve becoming frayed and losing the waterproofness. Since I noticed, I've been careful about not brushing my right arm against the Velcro but it's only the inside of the arm which usually doesn't need much waterproofing anyways but just something to be aware of.
First, I’ve always been so dependent on the reliability of reviews REI Second, the reviews certainly did match the quality of the jacket when I received it. In my past experience when the reviews were rated high the products were exceptional. Third, when I realized the reviews I read didn’t match the quality - I went back and read them again Lastly, this is the first time and the only time I’ve ever seen REI use solicited promotional reviews, and I was so shocked and disturbed about how much REI has changed the trail corporate marketing strategies.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] During cold winter. I have made a perfect choice. Compare to other brands Columbia is affordable and far beyond better than other brands. If anyone wants this jacket I must say go on. No regrets at all. Perfectly build.
While the jacket is warm like he wanted if the jacket is not velcroed the sleeve rubs the rough velcro and has messed the fabric up on the arm.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I recently purchased the Columbia Men’s Hikebound II Insulated Jacket, and I couldn’t be happier with it. The waterproofing is excellent—just as advertised, it kept me completely dry during several rainy hikes. The insulation is also impressive, keeping me warm and comfortable without feeling bulky. I love that it’s lightweight yet durable, and the fit allows for easy layering if needed. Overall, it’s a reliable jacket that performs exactly as promised. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a dependable waterproof and warm hiking jacket.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This jacket is perfect...It's warm, waterproof, and windproof. It both fits & looks great. It's really comfortable and lightweight. I can wear it over bulky sweatshirts with no issues. The hood is a really nice feature & the neck zips up really high blocking out the wind. The zippered chest pocket is perfect for your phone and the zippered hand pockets and perfect as well. This jacket was exactly what I expected it to be when it arrived. I recommend this jacket hands down.
