So disappointed in the new version

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have the previous and current versions of this jacket in front of me. Nearly everything about the new Bionic jacket is a step backwards. Most all seams are now only single stitched vs double stitching. Some of the accent stitching/seams were removed which has negatively impacted the fit of the jacket. The jacket now has a very odd fit and just kind of hangs on your body and looks like one of the cheap lookalikes of the Bionic. The zippers are now smaller and undersized. The hemming is simplified and is of less craftsmanship. The adjustable drawstring at the waist has been removed. This would have been my third Bionic but this will be returned. So unfortunate to see the huge slip in quality that my loyalty has been tested. I will now be looking at other brands

Worth it! Light and elegant black look protects you warmly

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have bought it to use it for slight cool weather; Have been using it in summer as well. It is super light in weight thats the beauty of it and along with elegant black - coated with water proof materials makes it durable for rains as well. First and best purchase at TheNorthface, Have added my photos to it too

Almost great...

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased this to replace an older softshell that I love for hiking and general everyday use. It fit well with allowance for layering underneath. The windproof factor is great! I thought it would be my next jacket for every day use in the colder seasons. However, the right hand pocket wore out with holes in the first two months with simple daily use traveling to and from work, around town, etc. I have not observed this in my other NF jackets and vests or even other similar competitive products that I have had for years or even decades. The pockets are not durable, so don't expect to carry more than soft gloves or a hat. Will be returning this one.

Simply terrible. Zero Stars!

I was looking to replace my North Face Bionic 2 as it was getting old and the Velcro and zipper were getting a little wonky. I think I am on my third and have always loved them. That ended when I tried on this terrible jacket. It feels flimsy to start with, no longer has any way to tighten around the wrists and, worst of all, has a really bad fit through the chest and shoulders. It’s now tight and restrictive. It’s going back and I’m not going to bother with North Face again if this is the direction in which they are heading. Also, “Made in Nicaragua?” Read the room North Face! I’d rather not buy products made in an anti-US dictatorship.

Bionic 2 was better!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Just got this and compared it to my Bionic 2, not as good. Collar on the 3 is flappy and looks bad when unzipped. Fit is different, much baggier in the body and arms than my 2 but also more snug in the hips with no drawstrings to cinch. Looks weird. Overall, quality looks to be down. I'll return this and try find the Apex Bionic 2 somewhere. Also, whats with the bright white logo? The Bionic 2 had a more muted grey logo on the black jacket. oh, and before I forget, the zipper pulls on the 3 are just little pieces of nylon whereas on the 2 they were rubberized plastic pieces. You can see where North Face cut corners but raised the price.

Great jacket, but no adjustable cuffs?!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I really like the look and feel of the fabric used for this jacket. It does a nice job of keeping the wind out and is a nice looking jacket. It's actually quite warm, considering the fact that its a relatively light jacket. There is a major problem, however, with the design. There is no adjustable cuff. My old North Face Pamir Windstopper jacket, which is my favorite jacket, has adjustable cuffs. I knew this one didn't when I made the purchase and was just hoping it would work out. The sleeves seem to hang a little too low and if it had the ability to tighten up a bit, it would be perfect. If they added an adjustable strap, this jacket would be near perfect.

Apex Bionic Jacket

This jacket fits very well! Overall, this jacket is my go-to jacket. Now that I have this one, the other's are hanging in my closet because I wear this one every day. Even though I live in Florida, the temperature can get very chilly and this jacket keeps me so warm, and dry. The fact that it's water repellent makes it even better due to the sub-tropical climate here in Florida. The only concern I have is the possibility of the velcro straps that taper the cuffs to your wrists might wear out. However, this jacket is made with the best quality materials. Also, be aware of the washing instructions, it is a rain jacket after all!

Returning the jacket

Good looking jacket but I am returning it, for two main reasons. Sleeves are too long and there are no cuffs or Velcro around the wrists allowing you to tighten it up. I'm 6 ft and athletic build but the sleeves hang down too long. My main issue is the fleece lined sleeves. Keeps you warm, BUT good luck getting the jacket off. I bought this for wearing to work with long sleeve button downs and getting the jacket off is quite difficult. You basically end up turning the sleeves inside out and then you are full of static. Not comfortable. It fits fine (except for the long sleeves) so it's the the right size. I'll be looking for a different NF jacket to replace it.

Not as described

Seems well made, quite windproof and probably (?) useful in light rain. But I returned it because the fit is not at all 'streamlined' as described. The tag actually says 'relaxed fit', which is indeed what it is. As a slim, athletic person, it hangs off me. The 'high rise grey heather' is a completely different color than what is depicted online. And while the fabric is probably good as a light jacket by itself, it's rather odd and stiff and not versatile enough to layer under anything else (perhaps with the relaxed fit, layering things underneath this would be a better plan, but not what I was looking for). Disappointed.
