Not water resistant
Jacket looks nice and seems solid, but I’m not sure it’s even waxed. It looks about like any other canvas jacket, and rain soaks into it with zero hesitation. Photo shows the material after 1tbsp of water is poured on to it.
No water resistance at all.
Its a perfect fit and perfect style of a regular lightweight jacket. It is stiff as if its waxed indeed. However there is absolutely no water resistance, waxed doesent mean waterproof but there isnt even an attempt. Rain just soaks in leaving stains, and that is where I guess the patina comes in. Great jacket as a Jacket but dont buy it because its Waxed.
Overall great jacket
I got the Carmel color in a medium and it fits great. You can wear it by itself or wear a sweatshirt underneath it and it’s still comfortable. While many comments talk about how it isn’t very water resistant, I slightly agree. I did not intend to use this in wet conditions, that’s what a rain jacket is for So besides that it is a great jacket. It does take a bit to break in, but I am looking forward to the patina look. If you are on the fence about getting this jacket I would just get it. And if you want it to be more water resistant you could just wax it up more.
Shirt or jacket? Yes!
Great jacket. Really well made, like all Kuhl gear. Wears like a heavy shirt. Looks even better in person. Dark espresso brown and crisp. I scored picking this thing up on clearance.
Waxed? Yes!
I figured that I would like the jacket. I like most jackets from Kuhl. I just hoped it fit right. This jacket rocks. I kinda wish it was cooler around here so I could wear it more.
Lightweight non-technical waxed canvas
Comfortable pavement jacket. Not quite breathable, but much better than a waterproof jacket.
