Perfect Palo Duro Canyon Hat 🏜!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These were the perfect sun protection for a Palo Duro Canyon State Park trip that my girlfriend and I recently took to hike The Lighthouse Trail. The 3" brim provides perfect full 360° coverage sun protection to your head, neck, and face. Having a large head, it's nice that these run large to avoid headaches from it fitting too tight and the rear cinch/stopper for proper fitment adjustments is a nice feature. The sweatband work great to avoid sweat stains. For cleaning, I place the hat in a laundry bag, wash on delicate, and then allow it to air dry out of the laundry bag. A great sun protection hat! 🏜 I

Shades of Booney
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] So, my family is new to camping this year, and we've been doing a lot of it. Ultimately though I determined that I needed to keep my rather thinly haired head covered and protected. I looked around a bit, but had been happy with other Columbia purchases so I decided on this. My only wish is that the brim were slightly stiffer, but overall I am VERY pleased with this. It is light - very light on the old noggin, while keeping it from feeling like an egg that is frying while in direct sun. The venting allows you still feel a light breeze in the hair while your own stifling head heat escapes. This in now an essential part of my camping gear!
good sunshade
I have a couple different generations of this hat. I use this hat for my travels and fishing. It has a wide brim that keeps the sun off your eyes. This hat is very light and packs well. My original hat had the mesh all around and my last one had the mesh venting only in the front. I found the all around mesh kept my head cooler. Not sure why they changed that design. Perhaps they can make the top with a more breathable natural material than polyester. I love the hat but one thing they need to improve on is the stiffness of the brim. After long uses and washes, the brim become floppy and droops. Otherwise, I am very happy with the hat.
Does What it Says
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a nice, light weight and pack-able hat to keep the sun off your noggin. The mesh vent does allow cooling. The brim is wide enough to keep the sun off your ears and face. I do have two criticisms, however. The brim could stand to be sturdier, as others have noted. That relates to my second criticism, which is the brim flops down around the ears when the bungee cord is pulled to reduce the size. I tried to snug down my hat and the more I pulled to more the side brim fell. If your hat size is less than 7.5 or so, you might notice this flaw when you tighten it. This appears to be caused by the bungee being anchored halfway around each side of the hat.
Lightweight Protection
I am an avid kayak fisherman and need protection from the South Florida sun. I wear a buff as well but it isnt always comfortable to wear all day and I need to keep the sun off my face as much as possible and especially the tops of my ears. As much as I like wearing a baseball cap, I need the protection. I had been using another booney type hat but it is heavy and hot. The Columbia Booney is exactly what I was hoping it would be. Super light and comfortable which equates to cooler. When the sun is really beating down on my head, I'll poor some water on the hat to cool off and it feels great and doesn't get heavy. Great product.
Color a little off. Great for small heads!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] First the positive, I have a small head and this hat fit and didn't look ridiculous when you adjusted it. My head measures 20 - 20.5 inches. I considered ordering a kids size hat but didn't becuase it did not have a chin strap. I purchase this hat in Sage. The picture online showed it being more tan than green even though I realize Sage is a green color. At first I thought they sent the wrong hat. Darker and really an olive green which didn't resemble the website color. Due to the color, I gave this hat 4 stars. Otherwise I love the hat and fit. Personally if the picture was more accurate, I would have chosen a different color.
Perfect walking hat!
This hat is great! It is light, comfortable (adjustable) and looks sporty, not dorky. Actually, I wore it today on the boardwalk and a complete stranger told me I looked "WOW". That was unexpected, but it must have something to do with the hat!! I like this for travel (fits in suitcase and is crushable) and I will be able to sit in beachchair and this pliable hat will allow me to rest my head back. I tucked the chin straps up inside, but will use them when walking in a stiff wind. I love the adjustable one-size and I LOVE the ventilated strip. I could feel the breeze on my head, yet I was protected from the sun. I just ordered this in another color! Great hat!
Great Sun hat and Breathability!!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this hat for a variety of reasons: I wanted it for yard work, the dog park, hiking, floating and more. So far I have used it for hiking, the dog park, a beach trip and yard work. I LOVE this hat! It packs easily, is light weight, matches everything and does its job - blocks the sun and vents my sweaty head! I still sweat, but instead of it building up, the vents allow my head to breath and cool down. I love the adjustable chin and head straps - they allow quick adjustments for wind, comfort, and to secure. I have wanted a sun hat that was straw, but never found one I liked that would also stay on, so I went with his one instead and I have ZERO REGRETS!

However I was pleasantly surprised to find that this had provided relief from the warm sun and fit my head with a little room. I have a lot of hair. It is very thick. OK enough about me. I really believe that if you were looking for a hat to fit all shapes and sizes of heads this is the way to go. It is cute and fun and although at first I was apprehensive About these kind of hearts I am glad I made the decision to go in and protect my head with such a light and airy hat that will protect my skin.
