Soles are indestructable. Uppers fall apart.
Saucony refuses to make an upper that lasts even three weeks. They know if they put a quality upper on these expanded thermal polyurethane cushion soles, then all of their customers will have no reason to buy new shoes every six months. Don't buy anything like these shoes from Saucony. The thin nylon separated the soles after a couple months of mild use, and even worse, all of the (decorative?) trim was falling off within three weeks. I was shoe gooing them repeatedly. Total junk.
Good, but deriorate quickly on the trail.
Love the look & comfort of this shoe - you can still feel the trail and they have decent traction. Only issue is the grey outer color wore off on the soles and exposed the white substrate after only a few months of moderate trail running & hiking. Saucony should used solid color throoughout (like Hoka) so this doesn't happen.
So glad they work great on pavement
If Saucony’s regular running shoes fit you, and if you enjoy the fit and feel, then these will also be good for you. I might start using these as my everyday “walk-around” shoe because they are good on hard surfaces too. They give more side-to-side support, which is awesome because regular street running shoes are an ankle sprain waiting to happen if you landing halfway on the edge of the sidewalk. I appreciate that puddles of water won’t cause your socks to get wet. Bottom line is they are great shoes and somehow manage to both feel like Saucony street shoes but also not feel like Saucony street shoes, yet require zero break-in if you’re currently running Saucony.
Stable, comfy and supporive trail runner
Stable, comfy and supporive trail runner, roomy width on regular shoe is perfect for me. Traction is spot on without being too much.
Great fit and cushion.
I bought these hoping for an all-arounder city walker that will last. I spontaneously went running with them and was presently surprised. The fit and cushion was better than the Xodus 1 (the collar of the latter was too high and pressed on my ankle bones). These feel cushy but firm, and snug when locked down without annoying pressure points. And the construction feels better than my previous Xodus shoe. Only time will tell if the tread will hold up - that was the weakest link in the Xodus shoe, which only lasted about 6 months of similar use (city walking, occasional running). I bought a size 10.5 M and it feels great, decent width, similar to my past Ride 15 shoe. Hoping for durability up to a year. Also, I wish they had an all black model without grey highlights.
rock plate?
Comfortable out of the box. However, they don’t feel like they have a rock plate. Just one run thus far involving a wharf. I could feel the wharf bolts poking through to my forefoot. My Hoka Bondi shoes feel like they have more protection when running across jagged surfaces in trail runs. The description says that they have a plate. Are you sure about that? Disappointing to see that the foam coating rubs off with rock scuffs. Otherwise a great looking shoe.
Big fan
I’ve been using Rides for a while and recently got this trail version. While I haven’t yet had the chance to use them on a trail, they are great for snow. All the best parts of the regular Rides with extra traction and a more substantial body.
2nd Pair (Because I Liked The 1st Pair So Much)
Bought my 1st pair about a month ago and liked them so much I ordered a 2nd "back up" pair. Super comfortable, great arch support and love the Kodiak colour. FYI, I normally wear a womens size 8.5 and the mens size 7 fits perfectly.
Nice but strong chemical smell.
These fit as expected, are comfortable, and feel grippy when hiking on various trail surfaces. They had a strong chemical smell when taken out of the box and now a week later that is dissipating but still noticeable.
Comfort and traction
Very comfortable shoe with great grip/traction on trails while still being cushioned enough to run on paved roads in a pinch. I really liked these shoes, on my second pair since my dog decided to eat one.
