Altra’s unique FootShape™ toe box and zero to low shoes are built to place your foot in a natural position, with a stable and confident foundation to run on. When fitting, be sure to allow a full thumb’s width in front of your toes. If your feet are used to cramped toe boxes, Altra shoes may feel a little big at first. Give your toes some time to get used to the newfound wiggle room.
Altra offers a range of FootShape fits:
Original Fit: The fit that started it all, Original is the roomiest of the 3 options from Altra.
Standard Fit: The most common fit from Altra is right in the middle of Original and Slim.
Slim Fit: The slimmest-fitting Altra option still allows room for your toes to spread out naturally.

Buying Advice
How to Choose Running Shoes
Where do you plan to run?
Road or track: Lighter shoes for speed, more cushioned shoes for distance
Gravel paths: Hybrid shoes, designed for both road and trail
Cushion comes down to "feel" vs. "float"
Minimal and barefoot cushioning: little to no padding, more groundfeel
Moderate cushioning: more traditional ride
Maximum cushioning: softest, bounciest ride
What kind of support do you need? Depending on your gait, you may need a stability shoe. But most runners will fare well with a neutral shoe.
Make sure the shoe fits. No breaking in periods, period! Your shoe should fit well from the get go.

The drop that we’ve been waiting for from Altra
1 year ago
I’ve been a long time Altra running shoe user from the Altra Lone Peak and Superior on the trails and the Torin and Escalante on the roads. I’ve been eagerly waiting for Altra to step away from the solely zero drop offerings and so glad they did. The Altra Men's Experience Flow feel like the Altra Torin with the wide toe box and stack height, but incorporate the 4mm drop from heel to toe (their zero to low drop). While this may still feel extreme for runners that are used to a traditional ~6+ mm drop, its a happy medium between the two extremes. I felt the construction and materials were solid, the area around the ankle and heel to be forgiving - a soft material that wouldn’t cause any issues, sturdy upper, and quality laces. I have about 80 miles on them so far and have liked them for my road runs. Hope to see more of this from Altra!

Walking on clouds!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I absolutely love these shoes! They are extremely comfortable! I love the way they are wide at the toe and feel completely weightless! Loose around my toes and not bunched up and tight around my ankle for support! I've recently started using these at the gym and running. They stick to the treadmills and still feel like clouds on my soles, and that's great because at 230lbs, most footwear looses that after a month or so! Brooks, look out Altras coming in!

Men's Experience Flow: Comfortable
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had the chance to try the Men's Experience Flow, thanks to Influenster. These shoes are pretty comfortable and provide decent support. They seem durable and the traction is good on different surfaces also it fits great. However, I prefer a different color. Overall, they're nice shoes, but I did not like the color options they gave us during the selection.

Extremely comfortable, supportive, durable, and fit true
1 year ago
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These are honestly some of the most comfortable and supportive shoes I’ve ever owned. The fit is true , and they are lightweight. The top material feels very durable yet breathable. They look a bit silly, but that’s minor for the comfort and support you get. I appreciate that they don’t have a giant WORD on the side of them, just a logo.

Effortless Miles with Experience Flow
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Looking for a daily trainer that feels smooth and natural? Look no further than the Altra Men's Experience Flow. This shoe combines a comfortable, roomy toe box with a low drop and a rockered sole for an effortless ride. The cushioned midsole absorbs impact on long runs, while the breathable upper keeps your feet cool. Whether you're cruising through easy miles or pushing the pace, the Experience Flow will help you get there in comfort. I pounded the pavement for miles in these things, and my feet barely felt a thing. They're even surprisingly lightweight for a daily trainer.

Altra Men's Experience Flow Road-Running Shoes | 11
I used these on multiple days on a recent trip to Lake Tahoe on both paved roads and dirt trails. These shoes performed excellently. They are light, comfortable and diverse as I used them on paved roads, dirts roads and hiking trails and they preformed well on each. The overall runs to size, I did feel a little slippage in the upper heel but a bit of tightening of the laces (a bit more than I normally would) fixed that. I think this shoe is well worth the price point and I’d definitely recommend it to friends.

Great kicks!
Great running shoes, super comfortable and tons of cush. Stack height is great, with a decent amount of forward lean. Colorway of gray and orange is solid. Probably the best feature is the extremely wide and generous toe box. Side walls and tongue provide a comfortable and secure foot bed.

Love them. Very roomy toe box, and a smooth ride
1 year ago
Got these free in exchange for my honest review. They are my first pair of Altra. The fit out of the box was excellent. They have a very roomy toe box, but the shoe fits snug and supportive throughout the rest of the foot. The cushioning is excellent and give the shoe a very plush ride. I’ve never tried zero drop shoes before, which is something Altra seems to be making a name for itself. While these are not a true zero-drop since they have 4mm drop, they are still less than anything I’ve worn before. So I wasn’t sure what to expect.
First couple runs were short jogs around the neighborhood, which is hilly, so it made initial impressions a bit harder to gauge. Then I went for a longer, proper test run along my favorite beach route. They have a smooth, luxurious ride quality. They felt absolutely fantastic, but they didn’t really feel much different than my usual favorite road running shoes. Running was very smooth and natural, with less perceived effort. But it wasn’t until I looked down at my watch that I really fell in love with these. My pace was considerably faster. Thought maybe it was a first-mile honeymoon. But mile after mile, my feet felt great and I just kept pushing my pace faster. I decided to make it a longer run, pushing the limits of my range. Feet felt amazing the entire run. Never fatigued. I think I’m sold.

Nice choice for sports and walking
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This altra shoes are comfortable. They were a little big on me, but they still feel nice when walking in them. The material looks good quality and feels durable. The only thing I didn't like too much was the color combination and that they were a little opaque, I prefer shoes with brighter colors.
