Pant size 4 measurements: Rise is about 10", and length is about 31" inseam. Top of waist when laying flat, measured left to right is about 14". Widest part of one thigh laying flat, measured left to right on that one leg is about 10". Pants on me: 5'3 118 32/27/36 small/lean upper body and waist, athletic with thicker glutes and muscular quads (21.75" at thickest upper thigh one one leg). They fit perfectly through lower waist, hips/butt, low back curve and legs. Not tight, but upper thigh is right there- any smaller there and it would fit snug. These have a lot of stretch. They are a high-rise type fit, assuming they're built for cyclists bending over on the bike seat, but the low back curve really fits nicely. Long waisted people would do well with these as regular pants. Waist has about 1-2 inches I would tailor in at the very top on me, but I'm short and small in the waist. The tailoring through the low back and hips has really high quality patterning and seams - everything lays nice and flat. Hip shape doesn't stick out at sides. There are no pockets on hips-only on side of thighs, and they are in a flattering spot. Pockets fit an iPhone 16 with silicone case, just barely. I find the pants so flattering, and plan to use them to travel, walk, and hike in. The pant material is hiking/breathable/lightweight. It is not thick material, and it is not loud or shiny at all. It is not the type material that shows all flaws- there is some structure to the material. They are comfortable. I personally don't like the button closure at the top, and the slightly large waist at the very top (on me), but the rest of the pant is so great that it's not a deal-breaker. I would try size 2, but REI doesn't carry it. I think these pants run slightly bigger than non-cycling oriented pants in the thighs (which is one reason I like them). On me, they are too long, but I just fold up the part at the bottom that is velcro. The calf/ankle area is zipper with velcro at the bottom- I dont' really notice it except when putting the pants on and taking them off, as it's tight over your foot if you don't open the velcro. For cyclists, it's nice and narrow around the ankles when closed. For cyclists, also, you won't be able to wear your padded shorts under them unless maybe you size up, but they aren't built to have the shorts on underneath. These have no chamois or padding anywhere- they are a lot like stretchy but structured, breathable, mobile hiking pants. The pants will stretch out slightly after wearing them a few minutes- not bagging out, but definitely you will have more room than when first put on. Overall high quality look and construction. Can be used for cycling or hikes or errands. Comfortable. I appreciate the quality and the fit, and like that I can use these pants to do everyday or athletic things.
