AlpineAir thinks we're slow

This is a delicious backpacking meal, but I refuse to repurchase. The manufacturer shadily "discontinued" & rereleased this product, raising the price from $6.50 to $9.95, reducing the contents from 198 to 148 grams, and is now marketing it as 2 servings instead of 1. So if you'd like to pay significantly more money for significantly less food, enjoy!

Shady Shrink Flation

This product last year had 800 calories in one package and now only has 590, 210 calorie decrease!!!!! This is immensely disappointing and frustrating. I loved this meal, it was one of my go to meals for backpacking. With this calorie drop it no longer makes sense for a dinner option on days that are over 5-7miles and over 2000k of vert. 590 calories is simply not enough to be considered a sustaining meal when expending over 4000 calories in a day. SUCH A DISAPPOINTMENT, that companies continue to choose profits over the well being of the consumer. These meals will quickly make their way out of my rotation. Do not buy this Mac and cheese…

Great if you like veggie pasta

I've tried several freeze dried Mac and Cheese entrees lately, and this is the best so far, but unfortunately that's not saying much. It's the first one that didn't taste freeze dried - it reheated well, and had a good, creamy sauce, though not super cheesy. I don't mind that it was rotini noodles instead of macaroni. What I was NOT expecting was the large volume of vegetable (especially peas and corn). That may be a plus for some people, and I'm glad they've redone their packaging to show what the meal actually looks like. Not high in calories, but very high sodium. Largest portion among the ones I've tried.

My favorite!!!!

This was a random purchase probably a year and a half ago. I am in the army reserves and sometimes we go places and eat food. That is not the greatest. When you're eating the same type of thing for 2 to 3 meals a day for multiple weeks it gets tiring. I picked up some of this just to have something different and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I also gave it to several of my soldiers who were vegetarians, and they also liked it. From that point on, we started carrying forever young mac & cheese with us on our exercises to have something different. I gave it a 10 out of 10 because it really is that good. It's not just good for dehydrated hiking food it is good.

overrated

if you're giving this more than two stars I don't want to see what you're comparing it with. aside from being far from cheesy, peas carrots and corn do not belong in mac and cheese. unfortunately they're the only things flavoring it. furthermore, the pasta in this product is rotini. not macaroni. eating highly refined food like this will do anything but keep you forever young. its a good thing I hiked 15 miles.

Not bad, except for the peas!

I made this in my kitchen ahead of my next backpacking trip just to try it out. The noodles and sauce were actually pretty good! The peas did not re-hydrate and stayed very crunchy. They also gave it a pea flavored after taste, which was not horrible, but not what I want in a hiking food. I think we could just do without peas in our macaroni and cheese.

2 stars is being generous

I can say this meal was hot and creamy and re-hydrated well. The pasta spirals held up well, and that’s all. Did NOT TASTE ANYTHING like Mac and Cheese. If you’ve ever tried the Walmart knock off of Kraft Mac and cheese, that would be gourmet compared to this stuff. Edible but not good by any stretch of the imagination.

Simply THE BEST - Especially if picky like me

I spent and entire summer stand up paddling 920 miles through remote wilderness, completely self-supported. My meals consisted of dehydrated breakfast, granola/energy bars for lunch, and a dehydrated meal at night. I have a large variety of options, but after realizing I was ahead of schedule, opted to eat my Forever Young Mac and Cheese every night! It was by far my favorite meal, had a higher calorie content than the other options, and was simply easy to digest! This has become a staple of my meal prep when planning long expeditions in the future.

New favorite backpacking meal!

Delicious!! Perfect ratio of flavor, noodles, and veggies. Heated this up for lunch and ate about 1/3, only because we wanted to keep moving but it was sooo good I could probably have eaten the whole thing then. I had the rest for dinner cold but it was still delicious!! I normally have to force myself to eat on backpacking trips but not with this. Would highly recommend and and definitely buy again! Best trail mac and cheese ever?

Real mac and cheese on the trail had all my hiking buddies scoping out my meal. Follow the directions and you will be rewarded with the best mac and cheese you may have ever had. 23 grams of protein made for a perfect recovery meal after 14 mile hike. Noodles amd cheese were chefs kiss and loved the corn and peas.
