This product wasn’t quite as useful as I had hoped. I was hoping to use it on my induction stove as the bottom looked flat in the description. The bottom is not actually flat. There are raised spots running throughout the bottom. My stove was able to sense the pan but it heated up with hot spots. Just have to be strategic with how I use it on the stove. It works great on the grill. There is a channel for grease and it works well to drain oil. The seasoning makes the pan non stick and it cleans very easily, even when food is baked on. While the pan is lighter weight than other cast iron pans, it is still heavy and large. I would recommend for home use but too big to take camping. However, the non flat bottom limits usability at home for me.

Perfect Griddle for Camping and Grilling

This griddle fits perfectly on our two-burner gas camping stove. We made potatoes, eggs, and pancakes at the same time. Fitting a whole meal on it saves dishes and time while car camping. It held the heat really well (we actually had to turn the burners down after it heated up, which saved on fuel). It is triple seasoned so the food didn't stick, making cleanup easy. I was surprised for it's size that it wasn't super heavy. Definitely lighter than our other cast iron pans, which makes it more convenient for packing while camping. I think it will work great over campground fire pits that have cooking grates - say goodbye to using aluminum foil on those. Looking forward to cooking vegetables on it on our backyard grill.

Perfect griddle for home or camping

Perfect griddle! It’s big enough to grill 3 burgers, 6 strips of bacon and buns, but not too big to be cumbersome. It’s heavy duty, heats up very well, and even the middle of the griddles not directly over flame cooks very well. Clean up is a snap with some kosher salt, Lodge spray oil and a paper towel. For tough stuck items they also sell a plastic scraper, but in my experience the salt works well. Seasoning the griddle is simple, just spray after cleaning with the Lodge oil and wipe down with a paper towel. Easy peasy.

Nice griddle! Great heat distribution.

Wonderful griddle! I use this on a gas stove, over burners, in a cabin at 9000 ft. It performs beautifully. Even heat distribution, not too heavy, nothing sticks, not even burnt cheese. I use a metal spatula to flip pancakes and grilled cheese sandwiches, etc, and no scratches. Bonus, it is very easy to clean, and even burnt cheese comes off with scraping with a nylon scraper. Don't have to use any soap at all so far, just hot water, a brush and scraper, and it is perfectly clean. Maintenance is also easy. Just spray on canola oil, heat to dry and fuse the oil, and it is ready for the next use. I would only use this in a home, backyard over a fire, or car camping. And, there are ridges on the back that, while they ensure even heat distribution and make it lighter, would make it very difficult to clean after using over an open fire. All in all, I would definitely recommend to a friend!

Great lighter weight and spacious griddle

The Lodge Blacklock Cast Iron Double Burner Griddle is a great griddle that is lighter than other griddles I've experienced and still just as sturdy. The handles are easy to hold or lift the griddle. It is spacious for bigger batches of pancakes, grilled cheese, bacon, etc. I like how there is a drip tray on one edge to easily catch the excess grease. It is easy to re-season the surface if needed. The walls of the side of the griddle are low for easy pancake flipping but will need to be cautious of cooking foods that create lots of juice or grease. So far I've only tried using this griddle on a gas stove top and it works well. I'm looking forward to trying it out on a campfire.

This will be fairly useful around the kitchen

Overall this seems like a handy skillet to have around the house or for camping trips. I’ve used it a couple times so far cooking bacon and eggs for breakfast at the house and am already thinking about what else I can use it for like pancakes, burgers, and wings. Pan says it is already seasoned but I went ahead and seasoned it again the first time I used it and it worked great. I’m just giving it a quick rinse or light wash and seasoning it each time I’m done with it.

Griddle for life!

Solid griddle and ready to use! It comes pre-seasoned which is extremely helpful. It is heavy and we would probably only on longer camping trips. I’ve used it several times from warming up burritos to cooking chicken breast. It holds heat so well and provides even browning. I got the care kit as well and this is the easiest time I’ve had cleaning cast iron. This griddle is built to outlast me, I look forward to making tasty dishes using this for years to come.

Excellent large griddle

Excellent griddle for large amounts of cooking. I've got a large family and have been wanting a large cast iron griddle for some time. But all the griddles out there were either: a) not actually that large, b) were super thick (and therefore super heavy), or c) didn't have raised handles. This one corrects for all that. What I like: - it's a true double burner griddle. You can fit 6 pieces of large french toast on this thing in 1 shot (see pic). Or a dozen fried eggs! (see other pic...altough this only has 8 eggs, you can see how 10 would fit easily and you could even squeeze a dozen on). - for cast iron, it's actually pretty thin - this is Lodge's claim to fame on this product line. - it has raised handles (a no brainer) - and for those unfamiliar with cast iron, in general: - cast iron cooks amazingly: it distributes the heat so much better than aluminum or stainless. You can use medium heat on most things that might normally require Med-High. - cast iron cleans up amazingly! as long as you grease it before use, it's a true non-stick surface: just scrape it and wipe it down and you're done! Really helpful when camping...unless of course you're in bear country...then you may want to use soap to get rid of the smell of bacon grease. ;) - you can use metal utensils on it! no fear of scratching a non-stick coating. Not cons, but considerations: - it's thinner than traditional cast iron. This is a pro as it saves weight but makes it prone to cracking if exposed immediately to heat. You have it ease it into the heat, especially if it's cold. A lot of reviews on Amazon complain about this griddle cracking...but this is why. If cooking an electric stove it won't be a problem because those naturally heat up gradually. But if on a gas stove or over fire, you have to ease it into the heat to avoid cracking. - while thinner than traditional cast iron, it's still cast iron and therefore still heavy. You would not want to backpack with this thing. - cast iron requires that it be kept oiled or it will rust. If you're just scraping and wiping down, then you'll be fine. But if scrubbing with soap, a few drops of oil rubbed in with a paper towel will do the trick. But because of this, you won't want to pack the stove with anything you might not mind coming in contact with a slightly oily surface. Cons: none! as long as you understand the considerations above, this thing is great for anyone wanting a large cook surface.

Essential

It is spring in Colorado, statistically the snowiest season, so still in riding mode. I have not taken this one out in the field. This is a little bit heavy, so car camping or a short hike to camp at the most. The plastic used as package of the cleaning kit could be carton instead of single use, hard plastic. But this is a keeper. I have been grilling hamburgers, hotdogs, making eggs and the size is perfect. It warms up quickly. It fits on top of any two burner camping stove. And it can replace pans which are a pain to clean when camping.

Versatile griddle for a lot of uses

This griddle is just about the perfect size. It fits the standard camp fire grates at the state parks, works over my 2 burner Coleman stove, and fits on a home grill. It has enough mass to really hold heat well but isn't so heavy that it is hard to pack up for a weekend camping trip. The pre-seasoning is also nice for minimizing the effort needed to start using it.
