Way better than you’d think

If you like Chinese, give this a try. I’m an avid fan of peak refuels, but this mountain house dinner is like ordering Chinese in the backcountry. It’s one of my all time favorites. I like to always keep a few on hand and I always bring one of these camping now.

Tasty But Contains Canola

I ate a pouch of Kung Pao Chicken today and found it to be tasty but a little too spicy for me. I was disappointed to see canola oil listed as one of the ingredients since it's on my list of ingredients to avoid.

Great meal

Loved the spicy flavor of this meal. Consistency was good, not runny. Great meal after a hard day in the mountains.

Mountain House does Asian well.

I received two pouches of Kung Pao Chicken by mistake and Mountain House let me keep them to try. Like the Yellow Curry and Pad Thai Chicken this is another Asian hit. It does have a nice spice kick but not overwhelming, maybe a 3 out of 10. I used 1 and a third cups of water and it came out great. Rice completely cooked and chicken nice and tender. The cook time is longer on this meal but worth the wait. I will definitely order this in future.

Great! Under some circumstances.

I always like rice dishes especially when going out on a trip, but you really gotta make sure you don’t put too much water in it or it turns into a goopy mess. I also recommend to really make sure you mix it all up. I’ve had some mistakes where I haven’t mixed it all, all up and I would sometimes bite into some dry parts. Just don’t be like me and you’ll enjoy this dish!

Had this at the bend overland expo 2024, was great to be able to taste it before purchase! Love the pieces of chicken, the older mountain house chicken was in breast form, smaller pieces are much easier to eat from a bag. Love the kick this meal has!

Great Mountain House meal

This is one of the best Mountain House meals ever. I really wish they would bring back the Buffalo chicken Wrap meal. hat is my all time favorite, but this one is really good. Think of it like a spicy version on chicken teriyaki or a rice bowl.

Their best so far!!!

I have a bunch of these meals from Mountain House (my former and long standing favorite was the chicken and mashed potatoes) and this one now ranks at the very top. It’s the perfect amount of spice and the flavor is spot on. Give it a shot!
