Exactly what you need in a pinch
I was over the moon to get my hands on the humangear product. When you're out and about and the facilities are inadequate the thought in your head is always "I wish I could just go standing up." I'm happy to report that my excitement to receive this product and it's performance are a match. This is a flat packed, easy to use, stand up bathroom device that keeps it all neat, is easy to clean, and simple to store. The take anywhere design means that you don't need to choose between an issue with your clothes by squatting or an issue on your shoes with splash - it works as it says it will and is so simple I can't see why you wouldn't have this device with you all the time. Note I can't use certain words in this review based on them being labeled as profanity so trying my best to describe this product without them!
Preserve privacy when necessity calls!
I received this product for free from the REI Trailblazers sampling program in exchange for my honest review. I've always been curious about the "stand to urinate" devices, and somewhat skeptical about their effectiveness. This product works SO much better than I could have expected! The multiple times I have used it, there has been no leakage and clean up is easy. It works best with snap and zipper pants, although there are ways to make it work with elastic waist pants/shorts, as well. It folds together very easily and simply. This device will definitely be coming along on my hiking and camping adventures.
Does the job well!
Bladders have opinions at inconvenient times, and some toilets beg to not be touched. Enter a standing device. I love how this one folds flat and small, making it discrete and packable. It fits in the case well, and I liked the softer case material. I did have to quickly review the instructions to make sure I assembled and disassembled it correctly, but it’s pretty intuitive and quick. The size was very comfortable and I didn’t have problems with leakage. It does require some planning ahead. I would highly recommend practicing at home before using it outdoors or while traveling. Also, it rinses easily, but have a cleaning plan in advance, whether it’s a water bottle or sink. I do have a concern with how well the seams will hold up over time, as they are white when flexed. Overall, I would definitely recommend this product for its intended use!
Wide base for no leaking!
The shape of the opening of this product is great for no leaking, so it fits where you need it the most. The shape is long enough so you can see where the flow goes and you don't have to worry about it dripping down to your pants or shoes. The packing is great and the convenient folding is fantastic for travel, camping and hiking. It fits perfectly on any pack, even with a small carabiner and is light enough that it doesn't pack any weight. It can fit on the outside of the pack, so when you have to go, there is no need for any digging into your bag. It's very easy to clean and comes with a sealable bag to keep it out of the way. I recommend practicing the fold before use because it can be a little confusing. Otherwise it's a great little product and convenient to have on hand when you don't want to squat!
Oh, to urinate in a bottle!!!
I was not sure if I needed this product. But. If I can urinate in an empty energy drink bottle then I am sold!!! I was not sure about the aim nor if it work for me b/c of "childbirth complications." But it works perfectly. I would have loved to have had this while traveling internationally and while climbing with my male friends. Specifically, I was climbing Pico de Orizaba. We were in the Piedra Grande Hut at 2430 meters and it was FREEZING and the wind was blowing so hard. My male friends could urinate in bottles. I had to push my way out the door, squat, and I was so cold the rest of that short night. And now I can use it when traveling in a car without stopping. So, the top 4 things I like about this product: 1. Works perfectly. 2. Easy to stuff in a backpack or purse. 3. Minimal and efficient design. 4. Color makes it easy to find (there are too many black things out there.)
Stand tall
Have to say this was a first. I am new to using a device like this and I can tell you it was super easy and more mess free than I anticipated. The device is super lightweight, discrete, easy to assemble, and simple to use. The holder it comes in would easily contain any mess if you aren’t able to easily rinse it off right away. I will have this stashed in my car when not using it for hiking, backpacking, or international travel. Totally keeps me from peeing on my foot!
Portable and Easy
This product is portable and easy to travel with. It folds up and fits in your back pocket or backpack (roughly the size of a phone). It works better with hiking pants or pants with zippers. Be mindful that it does not work as well with sweats or leggings since it requires pants to be pulled down. No issues with it leaking and easy to clean afterward.
Ladies, This is the Solution!
This device is a gamechanger ladies! It's so fast and convenient. It saves you time but also that awkward cold exposure, you know what I mean? You might wonder, but is it gross to handle it afterward? The answer is no! The design is thoughtful, because you fold the front tip inward and then across, so any "wet spots" are folded inside, then you put the device inside its bag. At first, I tried to be cleanly and tried to rinse it with water and use hand sanitizer between uses, but it honestly got so messy, it would have been better if I just folded it away until I got to a proper sink later. Either way I highly recommend.
Goodbye squatting!
Okay, this thing is amazing. I am in the mountains every weekend either backpacking, climbing, day hiking, or scrambling. This funnel has become a must on all my trips! I just clip it to the outside of my packs with a small carabiner then unclip to use. Best part… you don’t have to squat or expose yourself! It’s so lightweight and just looks like a cool gadget on your pack. I want to give it 5 stars, but my only complaint is that the carabiner holes need to be bigger! I randomly had a tiny carabiner that fit, but it’s so small that I almost have to touch the inside of the funnel whenever I click it back on to my pack. I literally have not squatted in the woods since I bought this. Go get it.
Should have bought one sooner
I tested this funnel at home and it worked great. A little initial confusion over the assembly instructions but figured them out pretty quickly. Afterward, gave it a rinse off it was perfectly sanitary again. It folds up flat and small enough to carry in a purse or toiletry bag, and has its own flexible plastic case to protect your other items from any moisture. I would suggest carrying a small towel for wiping it dry after rinsing it. Looking forward to having this as an option on camping trips and other excursions with limited/no toilet facilities.
