Best little travel bag ever
I got this little bag for a long weekend trip to Denver to visit friends and sightsee the area. I wanted something light and small and easy to get through the airport. I couldn’t have been happier with this product. I wore it everywhere—out to dinner, shopping, hiking, and to the brewery. It is so versatile and light and easy to wear. It’s got plenty of pockets for all the necessities. I was so pleased with this little but mighty bag that when I returned home I didn’t switch back to my usual Patagonia sling pack purse. I’m a convert and this bag is it!
Liked but really wanted to love
I was so excited to try this as part of the REI Trailblazers sampling program. The overall concept, safety features, recycled fabric all seems like a match made in heaven for me - especially when looking to run errands while not carrying a huge bag or having everything in a compact and safe bag. Likes: overall set up and features that make this bag/company great. The dislikes: the strap wasn’t long enough for me to have a comfortable crossbody carry and the external zipper was a bit of a pain to close. I also would have liked the bag to be just a smidge wider. I kept using this bag differently in hopes to find a new way to wear it or reorganize where I kept my phone and keys but nothing moves the star rating past 3 for me. If you have a short waist or smaller hands then maybe this bag is a 4-5 star for you but I just wanted to love this and couldn’t see it become an everyday essential for me
Great everyday/travel crossbody
This is a great crossbody purse for everyday use, or use while traveling. As a person who typically doesn't use a purse, it surprised me how much I liked using it. The size is perfect for someone who travels light. It easily held my bigger Pixel phone in the main pocket, with some extra room to spare. It has a zippered section for credit cards and misc. cards of that size. There's 7 pockets you can slide the cards in and have the top of the card visible. Each pocket holds at least 2 cards in case you run out of space. The pocket in the bottom also holds multiple cards but it's deeper so you don't see them. If you're wearing the purse you can easily unzip it half way and slide the cards you need out for easy access. The other side has a large zipper that can hold misc. items, including your passport. You can easily put travel tissues, pamphlets, keys, and other smaller items in it. You do have to unzip the whole section to access it. There's a small zipped pocket on the front when you can put smaller items. A passport does not fit there. The purse is fairly lightweight and comfortable to wear. The main strap is adjustable so you can wear it higher or lower based on preference. Being a crossbody you can slide it in front of you to open it up without taking the whole purse off. The RFID blocking is a nice feature especially these days. The construction is fairly solid and does not feel cheap. The cactus color is really nice as is the reclaimed lining in the front pockets.
Simple bag
I tested the Cruz bag from REI. The construction of the bag seemed so simplistic and basic. Great for easily finding what you have tucked away, but not big enough to take anything more substantial than a thin wallet and maybe a phone and a few keys. I would not be able to pack my entire key ring in this bag! But, while traveling or on a quick bike ride or other short outing, this bag would be great for just keeping your bare necessities with you. I liked that it is all black and easy to tuck into layers of clothing. It’s discrete, which makes for another factor for this being a great travel bag. The length of the strap was great, and the material and stitching seemed durable.
Room for improvement
This purse has potential, but there are a few design flaws that make me not love it. First of all, the credit card section zips open but in order to really access it, I would have to take the purse off. When traveling I like to keep my purse on as a crossbody bag but that would be difficult/awkward with this design. Also, the exterior pocket is very narrow due to the way the zipper is attached and isn't suitable for my phone, which means I need to stow my phone in the main compartment. Lastly, I had to have the strap nearly fully extended in order to be able to wear it as a crossbody. I am tall but not particularly large so if someone in XL size or larger wanted to use this bag they may not be able to wear cross body.
Great little bag
Great travel bag. I've been using it for walks with my dog as I need to have my phone and a few other things with me but don't want to carry a whole purse. Works great and has ton of pockets for organizing stuff. I also used it on a recent trip for seeing the sights during the day and the RFID protection was a nice touch.
Really cute purse!
This is a super cute and functional purse. I plan to use it when I go to concerts or festivals where you can't take in a full size bag. The largest pocket fits my phone, a chapstick, and pill container. There are plenty of slots for bills and credit cards. I can easily get cards in and out of the slots. If I wanted to keep my phone in the section with cards then I could keep more things in the larger pocket. There is a small zipper section in the front that has a way to connect your keys. My phone doesn't fit in that section but a smaller phone would. I'm really happy with the quality too.
So many smart features
This is the perfect bag for quick trips around the city. I take it on dog walks to have easy access to my phone and can see it being great for traveling abroad. I didn't realize it would have a full 'wallet' feature to hold an Id credit card cash etc, easily so this is the perfect minimal bag for some that isn't a 'purse person'. I'm constantly leaving the house with my phone, keys and wallet all in one hand and this bag makes carrying the essentials less clumsy.
Fine for a day trip, not as convenient on the move
I like the color of this bag a lot, and it can fit a surprising amount. The main full zip back pocket could hold several cards, coins, and cash like a normal wallet, and the secured zip within it could hold my portable charger, airpods, chapstick, hand lotion, and could have probably fit 1-2 more small items. The feel of this bag is also nice. The middle zipped pocket is really thin though and can barely fit a phone if you have anything in zipped in the back and it takes some work getting it in and out. The phone could fit in the very front though, but I don't like that there is an unused/unusable space. You can also loop items like sunglasses or something on a carabiner to the front. This is a good bag for trips where you will be in a city and get some nature in. I would be a little nervous putting sunglasses in here since it felt like they were going to get scratched or bent when I tried. The front most pocket does come with a key loop but depending on the bulk of your keys that might be the only thing that would fit in it then. The zippers get a little stuck and it can be cumbersome to open and close so many time to access them- this is not a bag you can easily open on the move. Overall a nice enough bag for a day trip with just some essentials but not something I'd bring on a trail or as my go-to on a trip.
Practical and Portable
I like this. I wanted to LOVE it. But I like it. I pretended I was traveling internationally and took it on a walk to REI headquarters and Confluence Park. I love its sleek ninja look (I ordered the black which I consider travel proof) and have admired the other pastel combinations from afar. I love that it’s made in Boulder, where my grandmother used to live and which I still think of as an artisan and outdoors hub. There is a front exterior zip pocket which can hold my passport and my iPhone 12 mini (together) and has a fun splash of color inside. I would prefer the ability to store them separately for security reasons. I like the crossbody functionality and slim fit which you could tuck under a sweater or other layer. There are plenty of slots inside for credit cards. Loose change might be a little harder which can be important in other countries. And there is a billfold area. It would also be nice if there was a little bit of general storage space so it could be more of a purse replacement. I think this could be done without being bulky. It says it’s RFID or hack proof or something but I don’t know if that’s true.
