This is a little but mighty bag! In true millennial style, I use a backpack to carry around my laptop and other work items on a daily basis. I frequently travel between three office locations and the field on a daily basis and I want to have everything I need with me. I wasn’t sure this bag would have enough room for all I wanted to carry, but I have been very impressed that even with its small size - it is able to carry all my essentials and has taught me how to pack better and that maybe I don’t need to bring as much with me as I’m used to! My favorite feature is the side sleeve for my laptop. It just fits my 14 inch screen laptop - though if I have my wireless mouse usb sticking out then it does NOT fit - it’s that tight! All the pockets are very functional and well thought out. The side water bottle pocket fits a full 32oz Nalgene easily and securely. The inside mesh pocket is nice as that is where I can put my charging cord, wireless mouse, and headset. It has a wire lanyard to wrap around something for security and the back has a sleeve to stash magazine or book and also strap to latch to luggage. It also has a shoulder strap so you can carry it over the shoulder vs on your back - very versatile! It would be a great travel bag for flying. Also in the laptop sleeve I can fit my laptop and iPad with a field case! I took this bag with me on a 4-day conference and again was pleasantly surprised that it had enough room for what I need to carry with me (even the vendor show) and slide easily under chairs and also it fits small on my back so when I’m tight situations I’m not knocking people over with my giant backpack! I really like this bag, I would definitely recommend! I’ll be using this as my go to work bag instead of my northface backpack!

Backpack strap started tearing off after 3.5 months of very light use. REI refuses to exchange it. Sherpani saying it’s REI’s responsibility to replace. Super disappointing from both companies…what a waste of $110.

Security-Minded Bag for Urban Adventures

I’ve used this backpack primarily for work commuting and other urban trips, as well as an occasional short day-hike. The pack is comfortable to wear, with sufficient padding along the back and shoulder straps. The material seems quite durable (and made from recycled ocean-bound plastic, yay!), yet the pack is lightweight. I especially love staying organized with all the zippered pockets! The strap on the side is also very useful; I often use it to hold my bag on my lap, and the feature is great for pulling the pack out of airplane overhead bins. What stands out to me the most though is this pack’s focus on security. It’s at the top of my packing list for my next international trip, and it’s already given me peace of mind walking around in downtown areas. Although thankfully I haven’t yet tested the slash-resistant material, I appreciate the feature (my dad once lost nearly the entire contents of a shoulder bag when someone slashed the bottom). I’ve also clipped the small cable around a table leg to prevent a passerby from subtly grabbing it, and at other times I use the cable to secure my water bottle. The ReturnMe tag is a nice bonus – it was easy and quick to activate, and there is a level of membership that’s free. The extra loop of material on the outermost zipper seems effective at preventing a potential pickpocket from unzipping it quickly from behind, but I find I often don’t use that pocket because it takes me an extra couple seconds to get in to. My only true complaint is that the zipper pulls started fraying after only a couple days. I tried cutting off the strands, but black threads keep protruding from the sides of the zipper pulls. It’d be nice to see this addressed in future versions of this pack.

Love this travel backpack!

I really love this backpack! I like to travel with a backpack so I can carry snacks, an extra layer, and a water bottle & don't have to go back to my lodging mid-day if I'm walking around a city. However I only have school backpacks with too many pockets for keeping things organized for travel or backpacks that are obnoxious colors for hiking. Until this bag, I've been very wary of carrying a backpack or have more often defaulted to bringing a sling bag so I can hold it. Not anymore! I think this bag is the perfect size, big enough to hold my 12 in laptop & short enough in length that it sits perfectly in the small of my 5'1" back. There's one water bottle pocket that fits a 32 oz Nalgene or narrow Hydro Flask just fine. The inside fabric of the bag has a good contrast for easily finding goodies. Even if you'd just want to carry a water bottle in the bag, its profile is still small enough that it would definitely be worth it. To my surprise, turning the backpack into a sling bag looks/feels great too!

Very organized and well thought out little pack

Lots of really thoughtful touches on this little backpack! It has three separate compartments and internal pockets galore, multiple places for a 13 inch laptop to fit. The chair attachment tether is innovative, would certainly stop a grab and dash situation. The find my bag tag is a nice touch as well and registering it was easy. Given the size, I think this would be a nice daypack, you could take your laptop to the coffee shop or work and fit a set of gym clothes for after work or as a travel day pack/airline personal item, as it would certainly hold everything you’d need for a day out, a layer, snacks, portable charger. For size reference I’m 5’3” and the backpack is packed with running shoes, a nano puff jacket and laptop. The water bottle pocket fits a 16oz Nalgene or standard klean kanteen bottle well.

Great Multipurpose Bag

When I first received the bag I thought it might be too small to get a lot of use but I quickly changed my mind. It’s deceptively pretty roomy actually. I am a working, active mom, often going from work to a kid’s activity or the office to a plane for a work trip. I have been using this bag for a few weeks now and found that it transitions well from one activity to another. I love that it looks professional enough that I can use it for work trips but can easily convert to a day pack and/or diaper bag. It fits my laptop and my 15” extra travel computer monitor without issue. When I fly, I like to keep my wallet in an outside pocket (especially with the antitheft feature on this bag) but my wallet is kind of a tight fit length wise. I wish the outside pocket was a little bit deeper but it works. The outside water bottle holder is a must have for me in any bag and this one is good - stretchy to fit different size bottles but not so flimsy that the bottle doesn’t stay put. The bag is small enough under a plane seat that it doesn’t encroach into leg room at all. I wasn’t sure if I cared too much about the antitheft features at first but now knowing I would likely take this on many trips , it is helpful. There are probably more pockets than I would use but it’s good to have options. Overall, I recommend if you tend to be more of an essentials type packer and want something that is good quality and multi-functional.

Small bag with lots of organization options

This is a versatile, well-designed, durable bag and I would highly recommend it if you are looking for a small bag to keep lots of items organized. I counted eleven different pockets and compartments: a front zipped pocket (1), a medium sized zipped compartment (2) containing one zipped pocket (3) and one smaller unzipped pocket (4), a larger zipped main compartment (5) containing three different sized zipped pockets (6, 7, 8), a separate zipped padded laptop/tablet sleeve (8), a side water bottle pocket (9), and an unzipped pocket on the back to hold the backpack straps if not using (10). The laptop sleeve was about an inch too small for a 16” Macbook Pro, but a 15” Macbook Air did just barely fit. With some struggling, I was able to fit the 16” laptop into the main compartment, but it definitely wasn’t designed for this size of device. Some other notable features of the bag are the option to carry it via a top handle or as a backpack, RFID-blocking material in the front pocket, and ability to lock the zippers and lock the bag to a chair. The bag is also made of recycled materials, and the repurposed nylon billboard material inside is a fun surprise. It comes with a “return me” tag and as advertised, it took me about 1 minute to set up the tag with my contact information. While the features of this bag are geared more towards everyday use or airport/international travel rather than outdoor activities, it could also serve as a small day pack since it’s durable, lightweight, and has padded shoulder straps and an external water bottle pocket. Overall, I’m really happy with this bag and think it will be my go-to bag for traveling mostly because of all the pockets for organizing various electronics, cables, snacks, and personal items.

Give it time for everything to find its place.

“I received these products for free from the REI Trailblazers sampling program in exchange for my honest review.” Took a little getting used to this bag. I love the size since I am 5 ft. and it's hard to find a daypack that doesn't look too big. This bag has so many organizing pockets that I forgot where I put things. I've been using it daily for a month now, and everything has found a place that makes the organizing perfect. Lots of security features which is nice, but even nicer that you can remove them. Also, lots of carrying options that makes it useful for the situation. I like that it's been made with some recycled materials as it adds a nice color pop on the inside. Seems to be made well, and is padded in the right places. I like that the fabric easily wipes clean. Overall, I really like this bag. Just needed to give it enough time for everything to find its home.

Awesome lightweight bag for traveling and work!

This backpack is amazing! There’s a nice padded compartment for my laptop, so I like to use this bag when I want to work at a cafe. There’s a nice sized water bottle holder on the outside that I can easily get when wearing the backpack too. It comes with an extra strap so if I want to carry it as a cross body bag I can! Lots of pockets to keep my mouse, notebooks, keys, and any other miscellaneous items. There’s even an anti theft on it which is great to use as a carry on bag when traveling.

Pretty bag with some drawbacks

I used this backpack on a snow tubing trip and as a day bag when running errands around town. Although I love the style and color of this backpack, there were a few things I didn't like about it. First, the size of the backpack: it's too small for an overnight trip, but too large for a day pack. On the plus side, my laptop computer fit inside! It might make for a nice carry-on for a flight, but I haven't yet had the chance to take it on a plane. Second, there were so many pockets/compartments in this bag. Initially, I thought this was great, but I found that there were so many pockets (and pockets inside of pockets...) that it was confusing to remember where I'd put things, and I ended up having to spend a not insignificant amount of time rummaging through the bag. Finally, although I understand the bag is meant to be anti-theft, there were so many anti-theft measures (zipper protection, extra straps, etc.), that it actually made the bag pretty cumbersome.

Nice concept, flawed design, poor built quality

Being a long time Sherpani customer, I really want to like this pack. It has a vibration color palette (cactus version), reminiscent of Sherpani bags in the olden days. It has a variety of pockets for a variety of functions, security features, and versatile carrying methods. However, the built quality is just not there. It relies too much on mesh pockets and one of them is broken on day 1 with moderate use (meaning just putting stuff in there). It is also rather bulky for the amount it holds. Had to return it, sadly.
