Way better than a sleeping bag
This comforter completes my camping setup. It is super soft and light but feels substantial and provides a ton of warmth. The fabric is not noisy and clammy like a sleeping bag. And I love that I can move freely and stick an arm or leg out if I get too hot. Also spoonable :) The design is simple and high quality, but has some nifty features like a cinch at the base that keeps the comforter connected to my mattress throughout the night. I just threw it in the washing machine after a seven day trip and it came out looking brand new.
Better than home comforter
This is better than the comforter I use at home. Love the feel of the fabric. It’s not the normal outdoor “swishy” material that other brands tend to use. Breathable and warm.
Better than our home comforter
Got the double for my husband and I. Love the cinch to tuck this at the foot of our rooftop tent! The material is so nice and not noisy like a regular sleeping bag. We also got the top sheet which is cool because it links to the comforter. Easy to see that they put a lot of thought into the details when designing this. Definitely worth the price!
Warmer than it looks.
This is warm on my bed at 68 degrees and for a brief lounge on my balcony in the 50s, so I think will work in the 40s with warm clothing. I also got the double so I could "double it up if needed? Still in PNW summer nights in the mountains can be cold so this will probably be an add on for car camping, and it nicely works at home. I like that it isn't white. I thought of getting something cheaper on Black Friday but reviews were mixed. I almost returned this but decided to try it out with just a flannel sheet. I worked better than a Pendleton Blanket AND my old comforter. I was warm but not hot so it is perfect for that. There are a few other similar offerings from Feathered Friends and Mountain Hardware, but not as large as this double . . .
unpleasant odor
All in all this is a good comforter but, after unpacking the comforter I noticed an to me unpleasant odor. The only way to describe the odor is to think of a wet dog. I thought that it wasn't a good smell to have close to me while I am sleeping. I washed it and I thought the smell will disappear but it didn't . After my first camping trip , I washed the comforter again and still the smell didn't go away. Now I am actually putting a duvet cover on the comforter as a solution. Some will say that they don't mind the smell of wet dog or even dog breath and that way there wouldn't be a problem and you will love the comforter.
So cosy!
I have the double and this thing is amazing! I sleep so well under it. The size is plenty for my partner and I to get all the coverage we need, even after our dog steals part of it for himself. And I'm impressed that after shaking it out, none of the dog fur remains. I'm feeling good about taking this on our upcoming cold weather camping trips.
Never Going Back to a Sleeping Bag!
I can't believe I slept in a sleeping bag for so long! I love the Double comforter from HEST- it is lofty and quiet like my home comforter making camping extra cozy.
Great for car camping
This was my first quilt and I loved it! It was super comfortable as a side sleeper. It was warm, but not sure it would be warm enough for backpacking for me.
Worth every penny
I tried this is 60 degrees nights with rain and wind. I was very warm and able to easily slip a leg out to cool off. Even with my late frame I was easily covered. This is so comfortable and feels plush. The quality is evident from the moment you open the package. The quilt is amazing but the bag and the extra carrying case are so well thought out. The storage case can close and allow you to pack stuff on top to take with you. This company is serious about their products.
So many great things
Total game changer for the heat mattress. So many cool features. Love the ability to cinch under the mattress as well as the storage bag for the comforter. The touch and feel of the fabric is really nice on this. I have another down blanket that’s more like a sleeping bag material and this one is much better. It just feels more comforting if that makes sense. Highly recommend this.
