These are one of the most comfortable shoes I've ever owned. I got a different color than the picture from the website but I didnt mind because I liked the color better than the one displayed in the item description. Tip: walk around them in your house for awhile and break them in before taking them on a trail. And dont do what I did, try and wear them with socks - they felt way too tight. Without socks they are just right. I love them so much I'm wearing them to work.
I bought these for work (and play) last week. They're my fourth pair of Xeros, and I immediately liked how sturdy they felt. The waterproof element was the icing on the cake. Wore them to work the next day, and I felt very supported through an active day. Had to hose them off a couple of times, and was almost giddy with how quickly they cleaned up and how dry I stayed. I will say, they do come up a little higher at the heel and that might bother some if they don't wear socks that come up high enough, but I don't think that will be a problem for me. They're very comfortable, though somewhat stiff in the beginning, but the more I wear them they seem to be adapting to me. Love the purple color, too.
I ordered half a size up from my usual size and can wear them with the insoles and with socks. Love the roomy toe box. The grape color is stylish, but discreet. They are stiff out of the box, but with no hot spots and were fine to wear on a walk five minutes later. Also stuck them under the shower and water bounced off them. Will be great for rainy winter wear. A little warm for summer, but I'm getting the Xero HFS running shoes, too, so all good. I was rehabilitating my feet after a repetitive stress injury that led to osteoporosis. I had been in Hokas since then for six years; barefoot at home after two years. This year I went on vacation to a farm and walked barefoot outdoors everyday for ten days. Came home and all my shoes hurt. So rather than get orthotics I realized I just needed to get more barefoot, thus barefoot shoes.
When I first put these shoes on, I immediately thought to return them. They were uncomfortably tight. But then I decided to remove the insoles and that did the trick. A little stiff yes, but waterproof so far. I use them for disc golf, they’ve been dry so far thru wet, muddy courses.
Good looking and stiff enough to endure hiking trails and rough terrain. True to size. I also like that they are waterproof. They have all the benefit of a barefoot shoe while being beefier in the construction and materials to withstand rough use. Bought them for winter rains, but wear them for when uphill conditions demand a stiffer shoe.
I bought the high-top version of these in-store, and they rubbed my hot spot the wrong way (I'm never been a fan of anything covering my ankle except Blundstones anyway). Very grateful to REI for its generous return policy. I swapped them out for these low-tops 8 months ago, and they just get better. I use them on trails (watch for cactus though, they'll pierce the sole), slickrock and around town.
I wish zero shoes had consistent sizing. I ordered my usual size in this shoe, but it was very small. Otherwise I like the shoes, but I have to return for a bigger size.
