Daily use going well - Java/Bison
Been wearing these as my daily shoes for about two weeks now. I work on my feet mostly so I needed something comfortable and hopefully durable. Can’t yet speak to their water proofing, but can say they feel solid, have a good tread and are so far comfortable. The insoles are a little flimsy for my high arches so they’ve been swapped for a better orthotic. Past that I’m super happy and excited to see how long they last. Weight wise they’re a little heavy at first but I’m hoping the heavier material equals durability. Hope that helps!
Excellent First Impressions - Ready for the Trails!
I recently got the Targhee IV Waterproof Hiking Shoes from KEEN, and they are impressive. The design is rugged and stylish, and they feel incredibly comfortable. The Original Fit provides ample room for my toes, and the cushioning is superb with the LuftCell midsole. I love the eco-friendly features like the glue-free KEEN.FUSION construction and recycled plastic laces. Looking forward to taking these on my hikes. Will update after a few months of use!
Defective Not Expected from Keen or REI
Right shoe defective. Sewing of the tongue not finished correctly. The tongue digs into my foot even when I tie them a little loose. Had signs of being worn previously. Not what I expected from KEEN or REI. Seems like it could have been a great shoe. But if the quality of KEEN shoes continue to go down over the years I will have to find a different favorite shoe brand. Pretty frustrating ordering online and waiting a week for a pair of shoes that I now have to return.
Cushioning is lost prematurely.
I recall reviewing Keen footwear and telling about how they're a good shoe out of the box, but how longevity leaves a lot to be desired. Cas in point. I have this shoe, Men's Targhee IV Wide Wat. . . Dark Olive/Gold Flame. It was great. I alternate my shoes so as not to develop sores. These still look like new, but the cushioning is gone. I can no longer wear them. I think I bought them last summer. With rotating them as I do, they should have lasted much longer. I guess I'll use them as slippers now.
So Far, So Good
This is my first pair of Keen hiking shoes. I selected them after a couple of hours of trying on and discussing with a very helpful REI employee. The size i needed was not available at the store, though i did try a Keen Targhee IV hiking boot of the same size i had them order, which i just received. As the review titile refelects my initial try on and walk around the house/yard is very favorable. I did remove the "inserts" from Keen, which like all others are of minimal use and inserted a pair of Sole arch supports. The delivery process went very well with numerous stauts updates and on time drop off of the shoes. Adding pic of new shoes.
4th or 5th pair warrantied
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] They did stand by there product but I haven't been able to find even one pair that'll last a year from them. The quality of there product has gone down so much since covid. They will not warranty this pair out when I have problems with them because they don't want to warranty any more. This is the last pair I'll ever get since they won't stand by there product. Keen used to last me 21/2 to 3 years a pair. Now I'm lucky if they last 6 months before falling apart. Keen was my favorite but just aren't a good enough shoe. Don't waste your money find a better product
Great hiker!!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Very comfortable well made as always from Keen!
Great option for women with wide feet
For all my wide footed girlies who can't find a woman's shoe that will fit - look no further. I spent over an hour at REI trying on hiking shoes (not a fan of "boots", they always seem to rub my ankles) for my Scottish highlands adventure. I was in desperate need of waterproof gear, with no hope in sight. At last, the sales associate brought out these Keens. I'm not going to lie, I'm a girly girl and seeing this color combo I was like "absolutely not". But once I got over my snobbiness, and tried the shoes on, I was pleasantly surprised! They fit my inserts perfectly, and were wide enough for my hooves. I spent 2 weeks hiking through Scotland, and not once did I get a blister OR have water get in my shoes (and boy did it RAIN).
Best Hiking Shoes Comfortable and Stylish!
The Keen Targhee IV is hands down the best-feeling hiking shoe I’ve owned. I got them for work, and they provide amazing comfort and support all day. Plus, they’re surprisingly stylish, making them perfect for both function and fashion. Highly recommend!
Unwearable
I wore these twice. Walked only about a mile the first day and about three-quarters of a mile the second. Same results. Uncomfortable and lumpy in the bed of the shoe and worse, they produced pain in my spine and buttocks. I wore my old worn out pair (different model) just to see and they were decidedly, at more than three years old, still way more comfortable. The box is marked QC1 but I wonder. A seam in the right shoe looks a little out of wack. Also, I wonder if they'd been previously returned. Or, maybe it's the recyclable materials. Very disappointing. Will be returning
