Overall good, but preferred the old style
I have had this pack for a while now and I absolutely loved it. It was sleek and the pockets were perfect for traveling. Unfortunately that bag got stolen and I immediately needed to replace it. However it seems this is a newer version of the bag I had, and while it still has the same functional pockets, it just doesn’t seem as sleek and almost feels cheaper? I am hoping it grows on my aesthetically, but practically it’s still a great bag.

Perfect for Essentials

I have a very old JanSport I’ve been using for over 30yrs that worked great until it didn’t hold all the essentials I needed to take my dogs on a walk. I have lost my house keys while walking and needed a little more room for my phone, dog bags, collapsible water bowl etc…I found this on sale for a great price, Has a back zip compartment for my phone, key clip (grateful) with inside pocket for that & another inside pocket for money or my eye glasses cleaning cloth. Front pocket zip to keep doggie bags in. I would have given 5 stars but the material is not as rugged as my JanSport however, it could hold up over time it’s only been a month of use.

Long strap is nice

I've been looking for a bag like this that I can use crossbody, but as a broad-chested and shouldered guy, a lot of these end up sitting in your armpit because the strap is too long. This one hits just the right spot on me though admittedly the strap is at its max. 3 pockets with a bit of internal organization that will fit a normal sized phone (if you have a Pro or a big case, it will fit but not in the internal organizer), a key strap...it's got all the right features.

Space-efficient and lightweight

Other waist packs/slings in the store and by popular brands may look a bit more fashionable but tend to be bulky with paddings that aren't really necessary for their small size, and have stiff, narrow openings that make it harder to access stuff than it should be given the total volume. This little REI pack doesn't have any of those issues; the bag is slim, lightweight and space-efficient, and the straps are thin and unobtrusive which is a good thing for such a small pack. All zippers open wide and easily. It's very easy to slip a giant smartphone with a case in and out of the main compartment; the front pocket is great for keys, wet wipes, etc., and the hidden back pocket is just the right size to put a passport, cash, and cards. It seems to be the perfect waist pack to store valuables under a jacket for travel.

great value and design

I bought this to prepare for a 10 day trip to play poker in Las Vegas. I also bought a Fjallraven High Coast 1.5 liter waist pack and an Osprey 6 liter Daylite pack to have a variety of options. After trying the other packs for a day each, I rotated the REI Trail 2 waist pack in. I used it to carry a small pouch with emergency hygiene items (floss, bandaids, advil, chapstick, etc), a power bank, 2 charging cables, casino players cards, and a pair of sunglasses in a RayBan carrying case. Everything fit snugly in the pack. The pack was comfortable to wear on my right side as I played poker and moved between casinos. I ended up using this pack over the others for my remaining 8-day trip. The price, material, and design make this a great value. My wife also liked it so I got one for her too.

Small waist pack that can hold everything you need

Very nice waist pack with zippers in the front and next to the body. There are a few compartments inside the pack to organize a few things. This pack, in my opinion, has enough space for the things you want to have on hand when you travel or are out and about; it is a smaller pack in size.

Light weight and roomy

I needed a little pack to put my phone, pepper spray and whatever for walks/hikes. I didn't intend to wear as a fanny pack so hoped the strap would be long enough for a comfortable cross body application. It is. Light weight nylon. Decent zippers with nice pulls. Three zippered pockets - back pocket perfect for phone, roomy main pocket (with inner pocket perfect for glasses) that is roomy enough for bear spray or a bottle of water or a couple of apples. The smallest pocket is in the front where I put my pepper spray. The picture on their site suggests a stiffer material but it's floppy nylon. Dig this little pack.

Perfect!

Just received today and I am very pleased with my purchase. I’ve been using a JanSport almost 40years now. While it’s still in perfect condition I needed something a little bigger because now we have iphones & earbuds along with other things we carry. This fanny holds it all. I use for dog walks mainly and it holds all the essentials I need to take my fur friends on long walks plus my stuff I need to keep me sane while doing it. Love the back pocket for my iPhone the middle compartment has two inside compartments the smaller one has a key clip love that since I have lost my keys before. Then there’s the outside front pocket for a couple rolls of p-bags. There’s an outside loop I will use for their collapsing water bowl. The material isn’t as durable as my JanSport we’ll see how it holds up the next few years.
